Windows Vista will go down as one of the worst Operating Systems of all time. It's nearly impossible for me to open more than two programs at once without it locking and when the Anti-Virus starts up, the whole thing slooooows doooooown. Anyone know any free ways to get Windows 7?

Anyway, if your computer slows down every time you open your antivirus, have you considered that possibly your antivirus is the problem? I may have never like Windows Vista, in fact I may have despised it, but the fact is: it's a perfectly usable operating system, and any issues you have are likely to be attributed to a PEBKAC error, meaning even if you did upgrade you'd still have the same issues.

He is right tho, If it only slows down when you open the anti-virus I would look at that first. A lot of anti viruses are a computer hog. If you need to scan let it go on its own without using the computer, usually while your sleeping. I have Norton it is pretty much non-existent until it does a scan and it hogs 1-2gb of memory when its running.

Always do the basics also, a good Disk clean up, De-fragment, Spyware scan, Malware scan, and a Virus scan. That usually helps with a lot of speed issues with computers. 80% of the time.

sounds like your antivirus is causing a huge memory issue. How much ram are you running on this computer you are talking about? Vista and windows 7 require a fair amount of memory to run smoothly.

I had vista, it sucked hard. I got access to all kinds of microsoft software free due to my college course, so i downloaded 7 premium free and installed it, that was sweet.
