Well since he passes I vote dragon type the strongest it does after all have the most pseudo-legendaries, plus they tend to look the best.  The only down side to this type is that it takes forever to level.

Well, technically you are right. In generation one they literally had no weakness. Their only weakness was bug, but the only bug attacks were very WEAK at the time, so when you consider damage, they really did nothing at all.

It wasn't until generation 2 that Ghost got priority over Psychic and that Dark was introduced to weaken Psychic to a major degree. Dark and Steel were also introduced to also make fighting much more useful, and it really did work. Essentially, in generation one, all you would use fighting for is to defeat Brock and possibly box it later on because it really had no other major uses.

Generation two and onwards fighting was VERY useful; especially in generation three (a-la Blaziken).

But yea, Psychic would definitely win generation one, just not sure about the other ones.

Actually this is really quite interesting of a topic, because every type has at least one type that beats or overpowers it, however dragon types are not effected by a whole lot and a lot of them can learn things like hyper beam or dragon rage which are really quite powerful, so I think I am going to go with dragon types.
