I'm a sucker for zombie flicks, and this is one of the best (to me, at least). It has a nice blend of horror, gore, and dark humour. It won't be that scary to people who are used to horror movies, but it is definitely worth a watch. Avoid the second one, and shun the forth and fifth ones for the abominations they are.


As for the scariest, well, that varies from person to person. I haven't seen it in awhile, but I believe In the Mouth of Madness was fairly frightening.

It is full of dark imagery and paranoid frights.


For a creature feature, you can't go wrong with the 80's version of The Thing.

Full of gore and tension, and one of the best horror movie music scores I have ever heard. Simple, but ominous.


For a good old-fashioned ghost story, there is The Changeling (1980).

zombie land is my favorite

The only movies I've ever seen that have scared me were two movies made in the 70s.

The Exorcist 1973. Pretty much that entire movie is scary. I was creeped out at the beginning and still creeped out at the end. It scared me so much that I was afraid to go to the bathroom for a while.

A Clockwork Orange 1971. It's more of a Psychological horror film than a ghost, blood and gore kind of film. But the main character is so delightfully creepy he managed to scare me a few times.

I guess it depends on your taste in horror movies. I personally like Bram Stokers Dracula, but the first Friday the 13th movies was pretty terrifying, at least for me, and had a pretty good acting for its time. 

The hills have eyes. This movie always frightened the heck out of me but always like watching it.

When the first , very years ago like it was 1995 and like i was 13-14 i have watched alien and i scrared too much, look around if some can have here too

The best horror movies i saw back then in the 80's & still keep its adrenalin effect & spookness are 2 horror movies, they are; Evil Dead &
 The Thing both of them released in 1982, oh man, it didnt come any movies like their spookness after ward.

For me, the scariest horror movie was Dawn of the dead (2004). I find it scary because of the well done makeup for the zombies. I also find it scary because of the scenes.

I am not a huge fan of those incredibly gory and ridiculous horror movies, but I can appreciate producers who can make a movie with a fair amount of suspense without adding all of the unnecessary blood and guts. I can't think of a perfect example of what I mean, but I thoroughly enjoyed I Am Legend, for one. Although I suppose that movie is pretty mild compared to many others. Halloween is another good one, but I have only seen it once a very long time ago, so I do not remember it well enough to judge perfectly. The movie that probably scared me the most was Paranormal Activity, but in my opinion, that does not make it the best. I like many other horror movies more.

This one is tricky, it is a good post though, I am a huge horror movie fan! A lot of my favorite movies are horror films, I can't really think of one that actually scared me but a good horror film would have to be The Shinning.

Based off of a Stephan King novel, this movie had the long term effects of cabin fever (which is another good one by the way http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303816/), a child with a sort of telepathic powers, murder, creepy hotel and a demonic presence. All in all it was a great book and an excellent movie.

The best horror movie in my personal opinion is A Serbian Film, because I've seen a lot of horror movies and this is one of the very few that actually pushed my boundaries, and actually made my jaw drop, along with turning a couple of my friends into screaming little girls. I recommend this movie to people but don't watch if your under eighteen or squeamish with a weak stomach or faint of heart.

the best horror movie of all time is either rest stop or silent hill

INSIDEOUS
For the most part, Insidious sticks closely to the haunted house genre of horror (a sort of revival of classics like Poltergeist and The Amityville Horror). A married couple, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai (Rose Byrne), move into a beautiful old house with their two young sons and a new baby. The early scenes in the film establish the characters very clearly. Renai is the put-upon mother and Josh is the loving, but somewhat aloof husband.
As the family adjusts to their new home, Renai begins noticing unusual events in the house (classic horror movie stuff like the books being moved from one place to another).  Their oldest son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) also seems aware of something faintly sinister lurking in the shadows. While exploring the attic, Dalton is spooked off of a ladder and bumps his head.
The next morning, Dalton simply doesn’t wake up. Josh and Renai turn to doctors who run Dalton through a variety of tests, but nobody can explain the boy’s coma
Over the next few months, Renai does her best to care for her son, all while dealing with increasingly spooky stuff happening in her home. Using tried and true techniques (the slow build jump scare accompanied by raucous strings), Wan delivers some of the most effective scares in the film during this stretch of the plot.  I’m not ashamed to admit that I spent a good portion of this sequence digging my nails into my arm rests and crouching low in my seat.
Eventually, Renai convinces her husband to leave the house. In a smart bit of writing, Josh agrees with his wife and they move. (I hate how in haunted house movies, there’s always someone who wants to stay. Why? I’d be gone in a second if my wife wanted to leave.) Of course, anyone who has seen the trailer forInsidious knows that moving doesn’t help the situation because it’s not the house that’s haunted… IT’S DALTON HIMSELF!
What’s a family to do? Why, bring in a psychic medium of course. Lin Shaye plays the medium and writer Leigh Whannell plays one half of her two man team paranormal investigation team. While each of these characters was somewhat familiar, I enjoyed all of the performances and was impressed by the fresh writing. The film’s obligatory seance scene, which could have been rehashed from past horror films, is given a unique twist and makes for one of the movie’s most effective moments.
I won’t talk much more about the story. Suffice it to say, the rest of the film revolves around Renai and Josh’s efforts to save their son from slipping away from them forever. Astral projection, demonic possession, and other issues are brought up, but always intelligently and with a certain realism that allows the film to be that much scarier.

I never really watch horror movies so ill just say one i though was okay. Insidious. 

Although I don't really consider Zombies horror but I know it kind of is... so I'd have to say Dawn of the Dead was pretty awesome

I guess the best horror movie of all-time in my opinion would be The Shining.
