the above question is really just for curiosities sake

now before i get to the review of each movie i would like to take a moment to go over batman's cinematic history. Movies and TV shows involving batman tend to be at either the really horrible end or the amazingly good end of the spectrum. some of his best work, and one of the best animated shows in history, was in "batman: the animated series" it through in all the dynamics and relationships in the comics. it was truly a master piece. but for every master piece there is of batman there is a flop as well. such as the adam west series. its a classic for sure but it definitly wasnt the best writing. it was over the top corny and just goofy. and then came another master piece. two really. the first one was "batman (1989)" and the second was "batman returns". these had great character developement and great acting. they portrayed batmans relationship with his villains almost perfectly while putting thier own spin on things like joker being the one to murder bruces parents. unfortunately the studio would replace the great director of these films (tim burton) with joel schumacher. schumacher would produce the worst of batman, yes even worse than adam west. these scars on batmans name and horrors of humanity are called "batman forever" and "batman and robin". i cant say much more than what has already been said about the horrible writing and terrible puns and the infamous bat butt shot. these are truly two of the worst movies ive ever seen. "batman forever" is almost tolerable but "batman and robin" does not deserve to exist. There are other shows i could talk about like the brave and the bold and batman beyond but id rather go on.

now lets move on to the first movie in the trilogy: "Batman begins"
While i do love Batman begins i would definitly rank it at number 3. i enjoyed seeing how they explained batmans roots and the dark atmosphere was perfect. when i saw this movie i remember thinking "this is what a batman movie should be". and it is but they did do some things wrong. for one the shaky cam that is present through out the movie is really annoying. a lot of times its hard to fully understand whats going on especially during any action scene. another problem i had with it was how little attention scarecrow got. hes one of my favorite batman villains and i was excited to finally see him in a movie, but i was a little disapointed in how much of the film he was not in. i think the film could have worked a little better if they had made scarecrow the major focus, still keeping ras al ghul as the mastermind of course. Ras al ghul was a great villain in himself though. I really liked the relationship between him and batman And the conflict between them. It was the classic tale of apprentice surpassing master and they did it really well. there really should have been a final battle between scarecrow and batman near the end in my opinion. one thing people seem to complain about a lot is batman's voice. but i think it was a good edition to the movie. i mean it was not THAT hard to understand and it added realism. bruce wayne is a famous billionair anybody would recognize his voice it was imperative that he disguise it. Another thing i liked about this movie is that they showed how the bat signal was created. (at least this version) my favorite scene from the movie is probably in the end where batman is fighting ras al ghul and he doesnt kill him, but he doesnt save him either. in all this is an amazing movie, its got funny moments, serious, moments, dark moment, and life lessons. A great story line a great cast, 2 great villains, and, although shaky, good action scenes. Random quote: "its not who i am underneath but what i do that defines me"

the next movie in the trilogy is "the dark knight"
this movie is easily my favorite of the 3. its got 3 of my favorite batman villains: scare crow, two face, and of course the joker. the relation ship batman is shown to have with two face and the joker make the movie by themselves. batman and joker are like "two sides of the same coin" id like to think that the joker is what bruce wayne could have been if he had not chosen the side of justice. joker has some of the greatest line in the show and when he laughs its hard not to laugh with him at times (maybe thats just me) but hes also terrifying. ledgers performance is golden. one of the greatest examples of acting in my opinion. the mystery of who he is and where he comes from also draws you in and the joker even wins the battle for gotham in the end. not many can best the batman like that. hes devious and decietful to the max. the geniousness of his plans is astounding. even batman the worlds 2nd greatest detective (worlds greatest being the question) couldnt figure it out. even the first sequence in the film shows his genious. when he took off the mask at the bank i was astounded. he got away with all that money just for the hell of it and didnt even have to pay the thugs. his plan was infallible. this is probably the greatest opening sequence ive seen in a film. Soon into the film the joker makes a threat: everyday the batmans identity is still a secret people will die. Harvy takes the fall by saying he is batman, he is taken away to be locked up but joker pursues. Joker is stopped by gordon and batman however and is taken to jail. This of course was part of jokers plan. Here he gets the upperhand again when his men kidnap rachel and harvy dent. the scene where batman is interrogating him is really well done. and when the joker bursts out laughing at batman i cant help but laugh along. he tricks batman by switching the adresses of where harvy and rachel are being held. batman intends to save rachel but because of the switch he instead finds harvy. this leads to the death of rachel and is one of the main reasons harvy becomes two face. The joker then blows up the police station and rides off in one of the police cars. He soon finds harvy in the hospital and turns him into his “ace in the hole” this is how he wins the battle for gotham. He was always one step ahead i love how they prtayed him in the movie and i like the fact that he wins, its something you dont expect. I liked that they put two face in the movie but i do wish he had come into the movie a bit earlier or at least i wish he hadnt died in the end. Hes one of my favorite villains as i mentioned earlier and i was really looking forward to seeing him quite a bit in the movie. Unfortunately he got the same treatment as the scare crow. I must say though for the few scenes he was in he was pretty freakin cool. I especially love the scene where he talks to the mobster in the car. In all they did a great job with his character i just wish he had been there more. The supporting characters in the is one were as good as before if not better. Alfred always has a speach prepared lol but they usually carry great wisdom “some men just like to watch the world burn” rachel was good though she was fairly forgettable in my opinion. mr. Fox(?) was cool morgan freedman(again ?) always does a fantastic job with his roles. Christian bale is most definitly one of the best directors of all time. He is capable of learning from his mistakes unlike many directors it seems. This movie corrected many problems of the first one. For one thing there isnt any more shakey came. The action scenes are done much better and i think they even made batman's voice easier to understand lol. In sumary this film is possibly my favorite film of all time, and its definitly the best batman film in my opinion. Random quote:  he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.

The 3rd and final film that just recently came out is “the dark knight rises”

first i would like to take a few moments and ask that if you have not already give a moment of silence for the people who died in the theatre in colorado. It is truly a tragedy. And please pray for the families that lost thier family members and the families whos members are in the hospital.

Now on to the review. I really enjoyed this film as well. It is another master piece. If you have not seen it yet i reccomend you do so because it is definitly worth the 3 hours. Funny thing is it only feels like one when you watch it lol something only the batman could pull off. As always the actors do a stupendous job. This film really blew me, and gotham, away. Im really glad that bane was chosen to be the central villain. He has finally redeemed himself after the abomination that is “batman and robin”. His grand plan is ingenious and it works out well. Nearly killing the batman twice. One problem was the movie started out extremely slow, but it makes up for it with the rest of the movies amazingness. The chemistry between batman and cat woman was great as always. And scarecrow even made a 3rd appearence. “i sentence you to death.....by exile” -the scare crow. This movie takes place 10 years after the dark knight which is something i didnt particularly like. I hate that it was so far in the future and that bruce had become reliant on a cane. But after he dons the batman costume the movie really starts picking up. Catwoman eventually tricks batman into a confrontation with bane. Here bane totally kicks batmans ass. “you adopted the shadows but i was born in them” -bane. He even goes so far as to break batman's back. Bane sends him to the pit where batman eventually recovers. I find this part kind of wierd but i think it works out alright. During this time gotham becomes complete chaos. And a new supporting character is introduced blake, a gotham city cop. He is easily the greatest supporting character of all 3 films. He plays an essential part in getting gotham back and winds up being a really cool character. Another supporting character is a co worker of batmans that later winds up being the daughter of ras al ghul, while she has a good performance i find that she is another forgettable character. Her big reveal was good but her role before then wasnt that great. The final confrontation was done really well. I liked the war between the gotham city police and the thugs. And i especially liked batmans final fight with bane. Catwoman was a great character the chemistry between her and batman was great and her inner conflict made for a great story. And alfred of course returns but he is fired near the begining of the movie :/ he revealed that he burned the note to bruce and of course this upsets bruce and bruce fires him, later regretting the decision. This is a really sad moment because alfred is just trying to protect bruce and get him to move on with his life, and he knows all the while he is telling bruce that this is the end of his job and thier friendship. I really loved this scene because of its depth and conflict even though it almost made me cry. This is probably the best movie of the year so far i definitly recomend you go see it. I wont reveal the ending but i expect to see a sequal sometime in the future, and although it wont be directed by christopher nolan im looking forward to it. Random quote:
catwoman: “You don't owe these people any more! You've given them everything!  “
batman: “Not everything, not yet”

In summary this is probably my favorite movie series/ trilogy of all time. Even with all its flaws. If you havent seen the movies you need to go watch them they are some of the best movies you will see in my opinion. Christopher nolan is one of the greatest directors ive ever seen. I like these films even more than the tim burton films. Unfortunatly christopher nolan has said that he is done with batman movies, but im looking forward to “the man of steel” and i hope to see him direct more superhero movies in the future. Perhaps a flash movie or a movie for the question.

Id like to mention another movie as a bit of a side note. “Batman under the red hood” is a really good animated batman movie. Great characters and a great surprise ending. It also tells us why batman refuses to kill anyone. Great animation great fight scenes and really great actors. I personally hope that the man who voiced joker in this movie voices him in later batman thing like perhaps the sequal to “batman: arkham city”

Favorite quotes and scenes:
Catwoman: He's behind you.
Mercenary: Who?
Batman: Me.

Bane: *Batman shuts off the lights* Ah you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!

Batman: *on a rooftop, Batman turns away from Catwoman, then turns back and realises she has gone* So that's what that feels like.

Detective Wuertz: Dent. Jesus. I thought you was dead.
Two-Face: Half.

Gotham National Bank Manager: Think you're pretty smart, huh? The guy that hired youze, he'll just do the same to you. Oh, criminals in this town used to believe in things. Honor. Respect. Look at you! What do you believe in, huh? WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IN?
*Bozo leans down and sticks a gas grenade in the manager's mouth*
Bozo: I believe whatever doesn't kill you, simply makes you...
*takes off his mask, revealing the Joker*
The Joker: ...stranger.

The Joker: Until their spirit breaks completely. Until they get a good look at the real Harvey Dent, and all the heroic things he's done. You didn't think I'd risk losing the battle for Gotham's soul in a fistfight with you? No. You need an ace in the hole. Mine's Harvey.
Batman: What did you do?
The Joker: I took Gotham's white knight and I brought him down to our level. It wasn't hard. You see, madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push!

Salvatore Maroni: Look, if I tell you, will you let me go?
Two Face: Can't hurt your chances.
Salvatore Maroni: It was Ramirez.
*Two-Face pulls the coin out and cocks his gun*
Salvatore Maroni: *panicking* But you said...
Two Face: I said it couldn't hurt your chances.
*flips coin; good side*
Two Face: You're a lucky man.
*flips again; bad side*
Two Face: He's not.
Salvatore Maroni: Who?
Two Face: *buckles seat belt* Your driver.
*He shoots the driver in the back; the car goes flying off the road*

Ra's al Ghul: Have you finally learned to do what is necessary?
Bruce Wayne: I won't kill you, but I don't have to save you.

well that all for my review i hope you enjoyed it and i hope that if you havent seen these movies you will see them. Id like to think people agree with my opinion but if they dont more pwer to them everyone has thier own opinion. If mine doesnt fit yours dont post here angrily telling me how wrong i was. Feel free to express your thoughts and opinions in a respectable and calm manner. Id also like some feed back on how i did as this is really my first serious review on anything. I think maybe ill start doing review of comic book related things or something. Please let me know what i did wrong and what i did right. So that next time can be better.
Also i bet you just skipped down here and you were too lazy to read that very long review

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
