Hello, I just wanted to let you guys know about a problem when emulating games for MSX2. I was trying to play the MSX2 Version of Metal Gear, but when it showed the MSX boot up screen, it just kept looping it forever, meaning that I am unable to actually play the game.

I tried to play the sequel, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, which was also for the MSX2, and I was able to get into the game, but not without error. The game was running way faster than it should have been, which made the music sound weird. The game play became a bit faster than normal as well.

So I tried Zanac EX, and the game, again, was going way faster than it should have been. The game play seemed alright but you could tell that the music was sped up by emulation error.

Outrun on MSX2 was messed up as well, the sound was again sped up, making listening to it un enjoyable.

Basically, I have come to the conclusion that nearly every game for the MSX2 has been unnaturally sped up by emulation error, but can anyone confirm that it's not just me?

This has been an on-going problem for random systems with the Plugin for different people - if it were for SNES then I could tell you how to fix it since SNES supports the full emulator menu in the RGR.

Unfortunately none of the other systems support the full menu with the Plugin.

Perhaps try uninstalling then reinsatalling the Plugin, and/ or restarting your computer.

OK, so I uninstalled and then reinstalled RGR, then I restarted the computer. After all of that, I tried to play Metal Gear 2 and Zanac EX again, but both of them had the same sped up gameplay

uberkoopa : Just an FYI for the future, I would prefer it if you kept these game report issues to the thread that already exists for this purpose.

Jordanv78 : His problem isn't game specific though.

tRIUNE : Ok, my fault. I thought they were talking about Metal Gear 1 and 2. I didn't realize at the time that it was deeper than that. Sorry about that.

Jordanv78 : yeah, I've been having this problem with all MSX2 games (normal MSX is fine, though), I've just been putting emphasis on MG1 & MG2 because those are two MSX2 games I really want to play (zanac EX as well, I know the NES one's similar but I want to know what the MSX2 version's like without such unnatural speed.

It's been a month (possibly even longer than that) and even with the newest update, MSX2 games still run way too fast. I know that bumping old threads is looked down upon, but I just want to get this noticed so that this issue can be addressed as soon as possible.

uberkoopa : There really isn't much we can do about particular games with the MSX2 until that issue is addressed specifically next time they make an update. I have the feeling that bumping this thread isn't going to do a whole lot to speed that up. tRIUNE is aware of the problem which means Davideo probably is as well.
