Congrats! This will be an interesting experience for you. It will be tough but I'm sure it will be rewarding in many ways. I always am amazed at the courage and strength all men and women that server for our country! I wish you much luck on your training and military life! Keep your chin up during the hard times ahead and remember you have my support and I'm sure most of vizzed community's support!

I can't wait to hear about your time at Basic... heh. This is going to be LEGEN--Wait for it... DARY. Legendary! Anyway, good luck in your new career. You're going to learn a lot of stuff very quickly (hopefully you do, anyway). Just keep your head down and do what you're told, you'll be fine. In some ways, it's the hardest job in the world, but in some ways, it's also the easiest job in the world. And you almost can't get fired for being an incompetent, so that's a plus. Anyway, make sure you summon me to your thread when you get out of Basic, I can't wait to hear all about it.

Yeah, haven't seen this yet. Joined the Army, did ya? I would have told to you join the Air Force, but it's too late. So how much do you know about Army regulations, gear and all that crap? Do you know if you'll be issued multi-cam uniforms or ACUs? Also, at least some, if not most of what your recruiter told about Army life is a lie.

Cyro Xero : I've been what most people would call "a military brat" all my life, seeing as how my father has been in service for nearly 25 years now, and is currently in Afghanistan, so I know must crap that they tell you is a lie. I know what my ACU's are (field wear) as well as BCU's (dress wear)... or did I get that backwards? I've got about 75% of the phonetic alphabet down... and I took 11 courses online at the official site for Future Soldiers, futuresoldiers.com . Only had to retake 2 of the 11 final tests. And so many people were trying to get me to of Air Force. I was honestly considering it, but when I heard that most promotions are on hold for awhile, I quit entertaining that notion.

Everybody else: any other questions for me before I leave? I can answer them to the best of my abilities, while not disobeying regulations, otherwise, I could get court-martialed already?

Well, there's nothing you know right now that you would be court martialed for. You haven't been around any sensitive materials to speak of, of which you'd need a security clearance.

Cyro Xero : With the MOS I had... er... 13D? Field Artilerry COmputer... blah blah blah... guy... I need security clearance. I think I need some for here too. Point is... I need some for my 88M, and you aren't allowed to tell certain information about Army because of security blah blah blah.


I do have an update for those that are following this... I passed my 1-1-1 PT test today. I did the recuired 13 push-ups, 17 sit-ups, and 8:30 Mile (actually did in 7:55... could have done in about 7:30, but I was out of shape). The actually thing (PT Test)... 43 push-ups in 2 minutes, 57 sit-ups in 2 minutes, and a 15:53 2 mile ( Correct me if I am wrong on anything, please Cyro?) I was not able to do, because I tried last week, and had 30 push-ups? , 51 sit-ups, and threw up from dehydration so I was not able to do the run, so I was not able to get the promotion before shipping out.

It will be sad to see you go for 4 months. Be careful in the Army, stay alive, and good luck in training. 4 months is ridiculously long though!

Stevie 764 : yeah... my ex-girlfrield and one of my best friends told me I was not allowed to get hurt... I told her to expect bruises... that was the best that I could promise. XD She agreed, otherwise... she says if I get hurt at all, she'll personally see to my death... XD It's kinda funny, because we BS each other like that all the time.

You get a promotion right off the bat if you are able to do things most athletes do?

That's weird. But cool. I could easily do that. Too bad I don't plan to join the army.

legacyme3 : Well, you would have to be able to pass the PT test they give you in Basic... and then you have to do some training, and pass the tests.... just general army knowledge, to put it simply. But, to my understanding... if you do the PT test, and the Future Soldiers training... then yeah, you become an E2 before going to basic, instead of waiting the max 6 months for the promotion.
I could have the numbers slightly off for push-up sand sit-ups, though. That is why I asked Cyro for Conformation.

Boot camp won't be too hard for be, since I am what most people would refer to as an Army Brat... and then the fact that I have a decent understanding and an average build, I won't be too bad. And actually, I bought a blank journal for that reason... to post what I write in it when I get back... that and the fact that my Mom made me promise her to have a journal of what I was up to while I was gone.
