Well, every generation has their Pros and Cons. However, I usually treat them all equal as every game is as good as the next, with newer and better refined features.

I just hate how nostalgia fans always have to ruin the series for everyone else because they believe they can detect what a Pokémon is based on what it looks like. What drives them to think they can say what is a Pokémon, I don't know. They are not gamefreak, so I just ignore those people. That and there have been proven statistics that there have been no significant changes in Pokémon type (animals, in-animated objects etc.). So what if generation V had an ice cream for a Pokémon or a pile of trash. Generation I had a pile of sludge and a magnet. Deal with it; they are the same thing.

Anyways, my favorite generation would have to be III. Main reasons was because it's difficulty was the best (good for beginners and those who are veteran players), all new mechanics such as abilities, a wide variety of Pokémon to form a team with and a whole lot more that just makes it an absolute favorite.

haitamchouiekh : Eh, I just go with the "I have no right to say what is or isn't a Pokémon." Because, to be honest, the first games (Red, Green, Blue) were the first interpretations of Pokémon. Those sprites are the real origins of what the first 151 Pokémon were supposed to look like. Later on, Yellow released in conjunction with the animated series. The sprites on yellow were changed from Red/Blue/Green because gamefreak wanted the Pokémon in their games to resemble more of that to the animated series and to look more child friendly. I mean look at that first Golbat, I'm sure that'd give kids nightmares.

And no, I wasn't going for its difficulty factor. In fact I think R/S/E was easy for me, even with just soloing with a Blaziken throughout the whole game. When I considered difficulty, I meant that it was in balance (not too hard; not too easy) for beginners while it gave a slight sense of difficulty to veteran players who begin their blind-run of the R/S/E games.

Definitely Gen 1, since that was the generation of Pokémon I grew up with. My sister got Yellow when it came out, and I got Blue, great childhood.

Though I never played past gen 3, I have seen some of the Anime here and there, and the other gens just did not appeal to me, especially gen 5, which I didn't even need to look up, since they came up somewhere or another in forums without having to look for them. They just look...mostly dumb. To confusing for me, ha.

If we're talking about which generation has the best Pokémon, I am gonna have to say generation 1 because all the Pokémon where original designs and were unique. If we're going by graphics then of course generation 5, but I have to say the Pokémon in generation 5 where not that great to me. The generation 5 Pokémon looked like house hold objects, pigs, hawks, and Ice cream cones. Don't get me wrong I still liked the generation, but it has its flaws just like in every generation.

SamB : i agree with you on that one. i mean seriosly, where the heck did the garbage can pokemon come from. but some of the pokemon were good. like serperior was beastin and saumorot too, and also zoroark and scraggys evolution. but those are the only ones i think i like in gen 5, and plus the fact that the games are too easy, i really dont like that either. but i would have to say that johto (gen 2) and sinnoh ( gen 4) are the  best for me. they have the coolest pokemon and they are really challenging. i also like kanto but for now i will just say gen 2 and gen 3 are the best.

Dualage : golbat was freaky but ratiacte gave me a heart attack. and so did mewtwo, mewtwo is kind of ugly, but i can stare at mew all day long.

and also who thinks that the difficulty should have stayed the same as gen 1 and 2 instead of just making the game too easy, and i think they should change thes tory line of the games. they are all the same. beat gym leaders, beat bad guys and win pokemon league. it has always been like that.

I think all the generations have their pros and cons for example the first started it all but it's pokemon weren't too interesting. Generation 2 added some cool new pokemon but the gyms were really easy, The third had tough gym leaders and used the water much more but the pokemon weren't that great, The fourth gen was really interesting and made competitions much more enjoyable but after the main story there wasn't much too it like the others and in The fifth gen They made entirely new pokemon which I personally loved but the layout of the map wasn't as fun to travel through.

Overall I would have to cast my vote to generation number two I loved all the newly added pokemon although the gyms were quite easy (with the exception of Whitney... stupid Miltank) they gave the gym leaders really cool personalities and in Crystal they added the entire Kanto region as well! In my eyes generation Two will always be number one!

My favorite generation of Pokémon was the first generation or Pokémon Red, Blue, Green, Fire Red, and Leaf Green. I chose Kanto due to it's nice, organized region with the 151 original Pokémon of the past and has awesome things and stupid, and lame things, this was a beautiful region for Pokémon trainers and beginners to visit everyday. So, I chose Kanto or the first generation of the Pokémon series/ games.
