I can't find anything allowing me to create a signature.  I bought the layout from another user at the buy layout page.  Do I have to make my own layout to make my signature?

That's actually not true, to put your own signature in a layout you bought, go to the "my layouts" section of the layout editor, pick the layout, click edit, and put your signature in the 'signature' box.

Any user can buy a layout. Any user can make their own layout using the Layout Creator. Only users who are Trusted or higher can make layouts using HTML and/or CSS coding.

When a user buys a layout, they have some control over it. Any user can edit a layout made by the Layout Creator that they bought. If soomeone buys a layout that was made using code, then the buyer needs to be Trusted or higher in order to edit it.

Long story short, you will be able to edit a signature into the layout after you become Trusted. You become Trusted by getting 10 Trust Points. You get Trust Points from other users if you make a lot of good quality posts (good spelling/grammar, no spamming, stuff like that). The more you post, the more people will notice you and consider giving you Points.
