On my father's side, It's completely German.
On my mother's side, it's very mixed. There are so many heritages I can't name them all. But a large portion of my mother's side is English, I believe one of my ancestors sailed on a Mayflower voyage to America.

I can say with massive certainty that im pretty solid Scottish.
Theres also a bit of norweigan maybe 100 years back too.

There were already (predominantly germanic) people all over scotland, scandinavians just invaded regions like shetlands etc.
In fact scotland for years didnt own half the islands, they were gradually reconquered from norway and denmark etc.
But yeh, theres certainly a fair amount of scandanavian in scotland and the rest of the uk.
But that was over with 100 years ago so that relation isnt by cnquest =p Id just put that one down to imigration.

I've heard some historians figure they might have originated in the Celtic regions of France, near Brittany. You're right though that the UK in general has been assimilated and settled by so many different groups, which is pretty cool seeing as how it creates a cultural infusion and diverse looking people. The city York in England was controlled by the Romans, Anglo-Saxons, and Vikings at different points I think.
