You Know How sometimes you expect a sequel to a good game but turns out its terrible? Like Castlevania for example. First game? AWESOME. Second game.....UGH Terrible 3rd? They Recovered! Also some do not make it and end up being unreleased Like Star Fox 2 for example. It was in Nintendo Power and they said it was coming out turns out it NEVER saw the light of its day and we weren't  able to play it.
Some are Great Like Super Contra but in my opinion when Contra Force came out (and yes i said it Contra Force) im my opinion is well it...looked...TERRIBLE. Some games are SO SO SO SOOOO terrible that well what the heck?! THEY GET A SEQUEL. Like Top Gun UGH that game is horrible so all my peeps on here Post Some opinons on some video game sequels are good and ones that are terrible

Anyways, although I understand what you mean, I do not agree with the fact that Simons Quest is "Terrible" The only thing that sucks about that game is the fact that you have those dumb day-night transitions and that they are coming constantly. Other than that, the game is just fine.

What do you find so horrible about it?

I think that all the Legend of Zelda sequels are pretty good, like Ocarina of time and Majora's mask.

Jordanv78 : what i find terrible about simons quest is that in those dungeons you fall through those platforms and you gotta throw holy water to see if its fake or not and the bosses...there rushed and stupid and you could just go through the room and pick up one of draculas parts and the stupid day and night transitions and dracula you could beat him in what seems like 40 seconds!

Simon_Belmondo : Have you ever played this game for more than a few mins? Or are you just going off what AVGN said about the game? Honestly if you give it a chance, it's not that bad. The holy water parts are only annoying in 1 or 2 of the dungeons. It is annoying, but again it doesn't make it horrible.

Don't get me wrong I don't like Simons Quest as much as I like 1 or 3, but I do think it's playable.

Another series which always had great games was Ninja Gaiden. Shinobi's first 3 were cool too

Game sequels are usually much better than movie sequels, but sometimes the first game is superior to the second. Devil May Cry 2, for example : the graphics were too simple and almost indistinguishable; the plot wasn't interesting and had very little to do with the first game and the enemies were very generic. Fortunately, they got it right with the third game.

I agree with Jordan about Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. It's not a bad game though except one or two parts (and believe me, I knew more irritating than this thing). Honestly, you can't judge a book by its cover or a game by a simple video, you have to play it, try it more than one miserable minute. Believe me or not but the gameplay is somewhat interesting, for example the fact that you have to "farm" hearts to buy some stuff is really cool and we can say that it's the beginning of the role play in Castlevania, something that we will see later with the gold in Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance and etc etc. Ok, you lose all your hearts collected when you die so I can understand that it's stinky but that brings some challenge in the game. Oh and another role play part too before I forget: killing creatures increase your life at some points, like in a role play. (thing that we will see in the next Castlevania games with the experience points and the levels).

End of the parenthesis, now talking about sequels, sorry if I'm repeating but I love Fatal Frame. The games are scarier and scarier, with some cliches from the Japanese horror movies. Ok, some people say that the characters trot instead of running like Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield in the first Resident Evil and that is horrible but honestly that is not a big deal according to me. It's scary, especially when you are escaping from a ghost. I have obviously some examples but I don't want to spoil the games ha ha. And we can see the difference of graphics, especially with the textures from the first episode to the last episode

Yeah, Simon's Quest will forever be the subject of ridicule thanks to the AVGN (though I do love him). If you ask me, none of the first three Castlevania games are that great by modern standards.Super Castlevania IV is where it's at.

Oh and the greatest video game sequel ever made is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

I personally think that Nintendo's sequals for almost any game ends up failing due to how different they make them. For example, Zelda 1 to Zelda 2. Mario 1 to Mario 2. They're drastically different to each other in huge ways, Nya~.

And I hate to sound like a fanboy, but the sequels to Sonic games are pretty perfect. Look at Sonic 1 to Sonic 2, Sonic Adventure 1 to Adventure 2. Not only do they add features that help and fix the game, but they also leave main features that show what these games are about still in the game, which is how any good sequel should be, Nya~.

Pokemon Gold and Silver were better than Red and Blue.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 was better than Super Mario Galaxy.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl was better than Melee, which was in turn better than the original.
Guitar Hero 2 was better than 1.
Mother 3 was better than Mother 2 (Earthbound)
Super Scribblenauts was WAY better than the first Scribblenauts.
I haven't played much Professor Layton, but from what I understand those games just keep getting better.
Portal 2 was like the game of the year or something.

I could go on, but point made.

This is going to sound crazy, but maybe the gaming industry releases sequels to... Improve on the original! O.O Absurd, I know, but think about it.

Most sequels of games have been pretty good. Like Nintendo. They have gotten much better than the previous sequels during the NES Era. Mario 1 was different from Mario 2. Zelda 1 different from Zelda 2. CastleVania 1 is so much better than CastleVania 2. etc.
