I was training a Zubat and came across an Ekans (snake backwards, for those who didn't know). My Zubat's only move is Leech Life (it's level 5) and when I used it, said it was super effective. To my knowledge, bug doesn't beat poison. I Googled it to confirm my theory and I was right. Unless Ekans has a hidden type other than poison, what's happening (not that I'm complaining)?

In Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, Poison was weak to Bug. I think the creators of Pokemon realized how stupid that was considering the only real weapon bugs have is venom and Poison types are full of poisonous venom and such. They changed this mistake in Gen 2 and onward.

Are you playing Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow? If so, that's probably the issue here. If not, then I have no idea.

Are you playing this on the computer because there's no such thing as Pokemon Brown. Now someone could have hacked the game cartridge or the computer file and renamed it Pokemon Brown, but there is no real game called Pokemon Brown. If it is a hack, it's probably a hack of Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow. If so, Poison's weakness to Bug would still be present in the hack.

It is a hack of Pokémon Red. I'm pretty sure it's in the RGR as well.

I personally do not like either type. I tend to stick to fire, water ( a little bit), and grass types. I don't know why. I just like them, and those types can just about beat any of the others, with special moves, TM, and HM's taught to them. And then I don't really play hacks... I don't really like them.

But, yeah, I knew that poison beat bug. That is the only reason I caught a poison type (Gengar) in Pearl, and used him on this guy that had about 6 level 25 bug types. :/

Brown is a hack of red and therefore has Gen I mechanics. In Gen I, Bug was super effective on Poison, and vice versa. Now they both inflict normal danger on each other.
