Well, here in California, you can get a piercing (not counting earlobe piercings, which you can get at any age with parental permission) at the age of 16 if your parents are there, but you have to be 18 to get a tattoo, regardless of circumstances. From what I've heard it varies from state to state.

I plan on getting a tattoo that is a mix of an ouroboros and the Yin-Yang

My plan is to have the ouroboros 2 dragons instead of one..each dragon eating the other's tail (to create the circle) and have the 2 separate colours with their eyes being the colour of the other dragon. Possibly some sort of shading in the circle to give it a more Yin-Yang effect

Any thoughts on where it should be located?

So, I have to bump my own thread. I got news: When and if I go home in June for a few days, I plan on getting a Green ribbon on my left wrist. The green ribbon is for organ transplantation. Well, maybe I can only speak for myself but I am happy I never got the ridiculous ink I planned to get when I was in my teens, I could not live with them. What I thought was cool back then was just pure evil and fail. Also the fads in tattoos change very quickly and women my age have these god awful tribal tramp stamps and worse and guys have whatever they happened to come across in a flash cards they could afford. Mostly god awful tribals but they just wanted a tattoo.

If you are supposed to get something that is "meaningful" to you, you don't really get what that is in your teens I think. I am sorry if I sound like an old man over here but that is the way it is and "you will get it when you are older". I am not saying however you have done wrong getting your ink. Time will tell. Also you can always fix up what you got or have them covered. But me, I love my crappy tattoos.

But my main advice still would be if you want a tattoo, think about it for a year or two. You will have time to get it done and live with it for the rest of your life..
