The art style is a huge reason to like the show, I think, just because of its originality in comparison to many of the other newer cartoons on tv currently.

I also really like that the characters are well fleshed out and have distinct personalities & mannerisms besides what's really necessary to just fill the plot. MLP has some of the best characterization I've seen in along time in any cartoon. 

It's also, despite how it's viewed by people who don't like it, not a cartoon just for small children. It's intelligent and some of the things discussed in it would probably go over the heads of kids under 9 or 10, not because of innuendo or anything, but just because plot is important to many of the episodes and following what is said is pretty much essential to understanding an episode I guess, haha.

TLDR; It's a very good show.

I've seen maybe 10 episodes after hearing from some Internet pals that I should at least try it. While definitely better Thant the average chd's cartoon, I think guys like the idea of being in some Internet cult following more than they actually like the show.
