Vizzed Mobile

Would anybody be interested in having Vizzed available for mobile devices? Imagine being able to play Vizzed off your mobile device. Probably an app would have to be made that has the Vizzed plug-in built in, so people could be able to play their favorite retro games that we know and love anytime from anywhere.
I'm intrested!

Not only would users be able to play games on the go, but they could possibly be able to watch the retro TV shows, read threads, and post threads using their mobile device. This would also help Vizzed.com to gain more users and have more users to be more active on the website!

Unless if I am mistaken, Davideo7 (the owner of Vizzed) does hope to make the website mobile friendly, but it would only work for the Vizzed Board itself. There is not possible way to play RGR games on a mobile device. We are lucky to have the RGR plugin to begin with. That is only good for PCs, not Macs. Making it functional with mobile devices sounds like an impossibility. And in case you didn't know, the Retro Toon Room is gone. When the FBI took down Megaupload, all the videos the RTR used went with it.

Local Mods : Anything you guys want to add here or correct my statement?

While yes, it would be awesome, it would be practicaly unfundable and require good phones.

No one will sink the resources into it, it'd be like trying to make a swimming pool with a bottomles pit

You practically already have mobile capabilities. If you go into Edit Profile & Settings, scroll down to the bottom, and then set Signatures and post headers to Disabled. Then you probably could use Vizzed on a mobile device, as long as it isn't something cheap like what I have . Many people access Vizzed Chat on their mobiles, also, so there's that. As far as games, that's rather impractical, although there are some mobile emulators out there. It'd probably be easier to simply get an emulator. At least you could play Gameboy games. And maybe NES.

silverthundr : I believe he was referring specifically to the RGR in this case.

Like silver said, it'd be impractical to attempt to run Vizzed on a mobile device. Any phone that would support this (such as an android) would be better off just using one of the many emulators on the Google Play store. And Apple would never pass this.

I don't think that would be possible. The only mobile system that can play emulators is the PSVita.

Vizzed overall for mobile sounds like a good idea. On paper. Not sure how it would turn out as it is. Never know. Like Lazlo said, there is plenty of emulators on the road for many mobile systems.

TheFadedWarrior : Please don't tell the moderators what to do. If its a mistake, its a mistake.

I know this sounds very impractical but it would be possible if you remade the emulator itself which is a LOT of work and then you would need to make the Games compatible with this new tweaked emulator, but if you start from one emulator it would be better than nothing. I actually will try to do this myself, but right now my computer is messed up because of a backdoor Trojan, so right now I'm posting from a friend's computer. And no, it is possible, but a lot of work. I will try just can you people take it easy with me especially the person who commented saying that I am not saying fact. At the very least, an application for iphone and androids should be created, but just for forum reading and posting. The one major issue I have if I were to create this changed emulator that could work for mobiles and put it on a downloadable app would be that the games would take up a LOT of room on the device. My friend and I are thinking of creating a application that would work on mobiles this summer for this website.

Lazlo Falconi :

Are there any phones that like Java? I know my prepaid (but touchscreen) Tracfone plays low quality games using Java, so it stands to reason that they might be able to run RGR Java games. The only issue I foresee is the controls.

TheFadedWarrior :

The fact that you used the troll face should be enough for explanation.

It sound like a good idea but, there will be more problems that the PC. First, it won't work on most cheap phones (Java may work). So, you may be able too play NES, GBA, and GBC. I say, you be better off with a laptop with WiFi.

BNuge : Yeah, actually most Android apps are powered by Java (As is most of the Android operating system) so that's no problem. As for if they'll actually play web Java, that's a different beast, because I'm pretty sure the JRE for that is different than for local stuff. I don't know about iOS though.

Matthew2321 : Many high-end phones have dual-core processors and more RAM than a computer did in 2004, when N64 emulators started becoming useable, so it's really just a matter of getting them working.

I have to disagree with the idea that emulation via rgr wouldn't be possible on mobile devices. Although it would be very costly and take a lot of work, there are many mods for mobile devices that cause the devices to emulate. If the rgr plugin could feature emulators that exist which are capable of use on mobile devices, and a plugin could be designed to function as multiple emulators specifically on the units that could handle it, then it would indeed be possible. However, such a feat would require help and permissions from various emulation designers, and would be very time-consuming.
