true, but it really was terrible. It seemed like a half-assed job even for a beta

after a huge extended chat with Dragon Master I downloaded Opera again and am trying it out. after a few months i will also download and try FireFox.

Im actualy a bit surprised at the changes Opera has gone through since I last tried it. There are a few features that are cool.

One thing I like is that ANY search engine can be added to the search bar.

The Speed Dial is cool but not overly enthused.

The incorperated torrent program is an awsome idea but im still in testing phaze with that.. Like do i have to keep a window open for it to stay on and is it faster than my UTorrent.

I also really like the mouse over thumbnails for the tabs.

Of course the protection is a plus too.

I havent tested the widgets yet either.

If anyone thinks of anything else cool i may not know please shar.

OH and the form fill feature is also cool.

I started with Opera because Dragon Master said it would be best for my Mom since she is blonde when it comes to Software.

Thanx to DM for all his imput... and for showing me how these browsers have changed.

Riga, which Opera did you download? 9 is good, and even though 10 is in Preview, I still use it and it's *quite* amazing.

If it's fatser than µtorrent then you're just having more luck with the torrents, or you're configuring µtorrent wrong

Riga, you my friend, are a total moron. Because Windows uses something called "Windows Explorer" for main functions like searching your computer, processing information and IE IS Windows Explorer, it is incredibly easy to trick IE into saying that you said it was ok to download/install malware. Microsoft thought that it would be a good idea to make a web browser that is almost 100% the same thing as a key program on a Windows-based PC. That is the main flaw of IE. This is why many PROFESSIONALS tell you NOT to use IE but to use another browser instead. This isn't the case though if you love malware.


Also, at the moment, IE has 9 security holes meaning that there are 114 vulnerabilities. It takes browser such as Opera and Firefox about 3 days to fix 1 hole. It takes IE about 1 week to fix 1 hole. In the time it takes to fix a hole for IE, someone can easily open up another hole for IE.

As you can see, there is no winning if you use IE. I recommend that you stop arguing this because all the facts are against you. Microsoft says that IE is great. They would because its their browser and they would promote it.

I even flippin said i retracted my earlier statement.

well i was going by outdated info...

and i was more joking around than mad. plus im an old dog so sometimes it takes some convincing to change old habits into new tricks...lol

but i am sure the browser wars will not end anytime soon...

however i am really likeing this Opera.

i tested torrent programs - first you download a torrent then open it in one and watch the speed then after about 15 min stop it and open the same torrent in the other app... and see which one downloads the most data i suppose i could run a few more tests but i am sure of my outcome...

Utorrent is definately faster then Opera for torrents...lol

No man, at the moment all Torrent programs are as fast, assuming you have them configured correctly.

Though µtorrent is supposed to come out with some new UTP thingy, but that will be topic for another thread.

Good to see that you joined the light side, are you gonna try out Firefox/Chrome too?

I can NOT tell you how highly i recommend you use Google Chrome. It is really the best browser i have used. Although, since your mom is a blonde when it comes to Comp. stuff you should keep Opera on your computer. Although Chrome is incredibly easy to use. I learned nearly everything there is about Chrome in an hour or 2.
