The game Earthbound (SNES) on the Internet emulator seems to not work or be broken. I opened up the game, named my characters, watched the opening scene, and took control of the main character.  Looking around the map, there are no characters or items around the world. I have no clue how to fix this problem. Please advise.

Does this problem only happen with the Java emulator or the RGR plugin? I ask because I have tested out this game using the RGR plugin and I don't seem to be having this issue.

Daevon : Please download and install the RGR plugin and try out the game using that. The plugin is much more reliable than the Java emulators, and it allows you to save and load your game much easier.
