What is the best name for a pet,

to keep this simple, we could say name for a cat and name for a dog..

Arguably the best name for a dog ever is Fido!

which means I obey in Latin, amazing!

for a cat I believe the best name would be Micio

which means cat in Italian dialect.

what names would you give your pets?

p.s. the best name for a goldfish is arguably Fred, the last one named that was in the world records for living over 40 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHHAA Is Fred for a fish stereotypical? I had a pet goldfish 3 years ago and immediately named it Fred!

My favorite names for a dog are Brutis, Shadow, Midnight, Buddie, Woofy, and Max (I know, all generic names.) One of my pet schnauzers name is Buddie!

Best cat names are human names. The cats I've encountered are mostly human names (besides Kitty, Fluffy, Tigger and Cuddles) like street cat Samantha, Myrtle, Simon, and Felix!

YourMajestyKen : How many dogs do you have? And also, those are some good names for dogs in my opinion.

Does anyone think that Dexter is a good name for a dog?

I'm not really sure about best names for a pet but i shall say what my pets have been called.

cats: diesel, because it was a grey Persian fur ball. Louie: my little brother chose this name , Chloe: she was a tabby cat that was older than me until it died a few months ago at the age of 20.

I had a dog called Harley as well, I think there's a film about a dog with a similar name but that was well before that came out

Fish : generic names like goldy, spotty, we called one dizzy as well because it had a smaller fin on one side so couldn't swim correctly... (like Nome)

Any name for a pet is good if you relate to it

I remember I used to have four goldfish and I named all of them after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

I think the best name for any pet, is something from a show/movie you really like. Bonus points if you have more than one and name them after a duo/group.

My dog is named Pippin, after Pippin from Lord of the Rings.

I don't know, I'm not really good with names for pets overall unless it just pops up into my brain or something. The last time I named my grandmother's dog, he ended up being the worst pet she's ever had. Bad Luck? I think so.

The names that require thought can be impressive and cool-sounding, but I actually prefer the more simple and earnest names like "Mitzy" or "Wiggles" or even "Fido".  They just are more amusing to me.
I have two hamsters--one named Pip and the other named Pop.
Simple, yet sufficient!~

I've often been told I'm not very creative about naming my animals because I give them names based on a trait they have.

For example: when my cat had kittens, I named the smallest kitten Runt. Her brother had a black nose while the rest of his face was predominately white. I called him Nosey.

Then I had another cat with really sharp teeth. I named him "Kiba" which means "Fang" in Japanese.

I named my little Doodle (Dachshund and Poodle mix) dog Itchy because he was always scratching his ears. All Dogs Go to Heaven probably had something to do with it too.

My favorite name for a dog would be Buddy, if it's a boy, and Princess, if it's a girl. That's whyat my dog's name were last time I had a couple of dogs.

Cats... Well, I couldn't think of a name for my Cat when I had one when I was 8, so I named it "Cat". But as for a best name, it depends on the color of it. My grandparents and aunt have one that just stays to itself in the barn where my grandfather does his intarsia. It's orange, and it's name is Fred. (sorry goldfish lovers)

Can't say for other animals, but for cats, the best names are those that give them a "title". Such as Captain Fancypants, or Doctor Fuzzball, or maybe something like The Grand Duke. Mister Olivander or Sir Fussington, or others in that same style. And of course, you have to enforce that people use the title when addressing the cat (Warning: This will ensure that your friends stop coming to your house).

As for dogs? I don't know, maybe people names like Chuck?

I like giving my animals human names, like my two dogs are Lucy and Edith while my sister's cat's name is Gracie. I feel like they are apart of the family when you give them a real name instead of some weird name that only you can pronounce.

I really want a dog. I know which one I'd get, a Blue Merle Collie, and what I'd name it depending on the sex. If it were male I'd name it "Storm", which would go nicely with the color of its fur. For a female I would name it "Astralasia", a name I find quite beautiful, for a dog or a human.

I think the best name for a cat would be Whiskers, it's kinda plain but it would fit almost any cat, plus it's my cat's name.

How about naming your pets after candy? Snickers, butterfingers, chocalate, cookie, brownie, twinkie? When I say tuna my cat knows what it is and goes nuts then scarfs up the plate.
