Well, I've been waiting two weeks for a "mystery gift" (No pun intended) to come in the mail from my grandma, and when it came in the mail today, and found out it was the entire handheld 3rd Gen (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen). Upon further investigation of the cartridges, I found out that they were fake copies

Do they still run at least? I had fake copies of some DS games, but they ran fine. One of them crashed after a while, and I couldn't finish it. As far as I cared, if a game ran then it was good enough for me.

Yeah, they run OK, but there's this message that pops up before the file select that says "The save file is ok." or "The game can be played."

But the mere fact that I own a fake game bothers me quite a bit. I'm always about legitimacy, except when it comes to Legendary Pokémon. (even though I would prefer to have legit ones)

Yeah, I know how you feel. When I buy games online, I always buy the cheapest ones I can find. Sometimes that means getting illegitimate copies. It wasn't that big a deal to me, but I would always prefer to have a real copy of the game. And I would never really know for sure that I got a fake copy until after I got it.

Your only real options are to buy them again and hope they're real this time, or just shrug it off and play the fake copies. I always did the latter.

I'm probably going to get a refund and look for some real ones. I was really looking for just FRLG in the first place, anyway. I'm just glad that the seller allows refunds.

Ugh!  That really is annoying isn't it?  This seems to be quite common now, especially online.  A few years back I bought several games from a Taiwanese seller on ebay, all ended up as bootlegs.  I ended up buying legit copies from Gamestop and others, because I wasn't happy having fakes.  Good to hear that seller takes returns though.

Indeed, it is very frustrating. I'm going to have to wait a while for the refund to come in, because the games have to ship all the way back to Hong Kong. Oh, well. At least they're getting returned.

I wouldn't worry about it too much my leaf green and emerald cartridge are fakes but it works just fine and if it does cause problems you always have Vizzed to fall back on lol.
