During that era, Keynes adamantly argued that government spending was the way out of economic depression. Hoover stood in firm belief that the country gets itself out. I believe the best way out of an economic crisis is to reduce tax rates, encourage business (both foreign and domestic) to come to the country and do business, and reduce tariffs to increase trade.  More trade = more jobs and more jobs create more taxable wages.  People spend money when they have it.

I am very much a small gov't supporter.  Gov't is important in running the rules but it shouldn't insert itself into business so much.
