I am dealing with a tough decision on my future, At school before the 2nd Semester started I signed up for Air Force JROTC. To be  honest, I liked the class at first with all the activities and physical training, fundraisers, and everything even doing drilling commands and color guard commands with using a rifle. But, I also want to follow my second dream being a engineer, now I am feeling confused due to the situation and pressure. I don't know what to decide on. What to do, what to do?

Depends.

Option 1 - Air Force.

First of all. Does the Air Force plan to pay for college if you go? How many years? Get all the details so you know what you are getting into.

Option 2 - Go to College.

This should be something you do, sooner or later. If you can afford it that is.

----------------

Personally, I would go to college, but I would also never enlist in the army or any military outfit willingly

I would suggest going to college, personally. For one, by going to college, you can pick up more life skills than what you would get at the US Air force, and second, with these life skills, you could get really nice jobs that can get you a good amount of money. At the air force, they can basically guarantee you a long lasting commitment where you won't just get dropped off the map, Nya~. It also depends on opinion, and I'm not one of those who would enjoy doing stuff that they do in the Air force, so also keep in mind that you should do what you want to do and what you will enjoy doing, Nya~.

I'd say that you are better off finding out all the details of joining the air force before you decide to commit to either choice.

The air force, is probably a job that you won't get laid off from unless your injured. Which is a good thing in this economic climate. But you also won't have the chance to get decent skills from college, which in the case, you  that you decide to leave the air force you may struggle to find a new job.

As for college, it depends if you can afford it really, Best scenario would be to be able to join the air force but continue with college. And they pay for the college fees. Also by going college you open a lot more doors for employment so you will find it easier to find multiple jobs, say if you ever get bored/fired from the one you had beforehand.

Just think about what you want to do after all it is your choice.. Just try to research each one beforehand is my advice.

I think you should take a chance with joining the Air Force in my opinion. Then again, you might want to learn some new things in hopes of getting a great career. So I say you should follow your heart on this one....

Go to college first, and major in something. Then, go into the air force, because you will automatically get an officer rank, I believe. I don't know if that works with the air force.

I would definitely suggest going to a university that has ROTC and going through that. That way you'll get your degree and you'll be an officer. Plus the classes that you're required to take the first two years teach you more about what you're getting into.

Here's the thing, if you go to the Air Force right out of high school, since you have some JROTC training, you'll probably go in as an E-2 Airman (Sometimes called Airman Second Class). The Air Force will tell you what job you will have, and it could be anything from being a cook to being a missile technician, but really since you're an Airman you'll just be a janitor. You'll live in the barracks with a room mate that you may or may not get along with, and make about $700 a month. You will work long hours, and be yelled at constantly because you're a lower enlisted rank. Oh yeah, and you can't be a pilot.

If you go to college first, you can get an Air Force scholarship. They'll pay for the whole thing, and you'll go to AFROTC for four years. You'll study for what you want your job to be, get a free Bachelor's Degree, and then join the Air Force as an O-1 Second Lieutenant, or maybe even an O-3 Captain, depending on your schooling. Your job will be what you went to school for, unless you want to be a pilot. You will live either on-post in a town house, or off post in a house or apartment you pay for. You'll make about $3000 a month, and even more if you live off post, you won't have to go to morning formation, you'll set your own hours (Well, not exactly, but you'll have more freedom, anyway) and people will rarely yell at you.

To me it's a no-brainer, but for some reason people like being Enlisted. I can't for the life of me understand why, though.

Choosing between two careers is difficult but I would choose college first since it helps you achieve many different goals.. and if you were discharged from the army thanks to an injury then you need a resume for another job(engineering). So I'd personally choose college first but it's really up to you.

I actually would not recommend the Air Force, I recommend that you go to college, college is safe. I wouldn't want to risk my life in the Air Force.
