Competition is half way over and I'm very pleased with all the score submissions so far. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episode 2 just came out, I encourage every sonic fan to get it.

Well, I have practiced the glitch cycle and I know I could get the maxed out score in just under 5 hours. But it turns out that wedding planning is taking more time than expected (being it is 3 weeks away) and adding my mom's cancer on top of that, I just don't have the time to do it. I literally have 5 hours throughout the day, but I just don't have 5 STRAIT hours in my day to do this. Looks like unless I get a big opening in my schedule, I'm won't really be throwing my hat in this one. Oh well, can't win every month

So there is no way to pause the timer in the time trial. I was thinking of testing this by clicking away from the window (which pauses the emulator) and see if the time still matched up to the timer on my watch. Oh well good to know. For this competition I had to eat a mouth full of food in between loops. Bathroom breaks were out of the question but I did prepare for that.

It's disappointing that these contests have turned into how can we use whatever exploit to get the highest score possible rather than pure skill. Not to offend anyone, but If I wanted to waste 5 hours of my life using the extra guy glitch I could max out my score as well. I just try to avoid doing so to actually keep it as a competition on who's better.

Hopefully next months competition is more of an actual competition that way I will actually feel like participating.

Yeah it sucked that last months got cut short because of the issues with the bug or whatever that was that happened. I told Davideo7 that we should do an R-Type contest soon

We usually play official (none altered) games for these competitions but in cases like this it would be nice to have a hacked version that solely prevented these types of glitches.

I don't think the hack exists but I question how they are made to begin with. It appears most programs can be manipulated. Does anyone know a programmer hacker? tRIUNE? Anyway I love the idea of not allowing the life containers to re-spawn but people could still get an extra life with 100 rings.  I think maybe that combined with the level's timer not resetting to the last time of the previous checkpoint when you die would do the trick. When the timer's up no matter how many lives you have it's game over and you must continue thus erasing your score.
