Hello everyone. I promised you all more poems so here they are. I'll go ahead and clear up a few things: the first poem is about a situation I read online. The second poem is a true story about me. Enjoy. I'll put up more later.
1100 Hearts
She walks through the halls
of her school, sickened
by the string of suicides.
Three lives lost in the
last month.
Bullies?
Troubles at home?
Reasons don't matter to her.
Determined to prevent
further pain, she
sets to work.
1100 students means
1100 hearts
cut from red construction
paper.
She prints, "You are loved."
on each.
Arriving at 5:30, two
hours before school starts,
she tapes a heart to each locker.
When her classmates arrive later
that morning, they won't know
who to thank for the gift.
Stopping the "What If"
When I first noticed you, it
was only because of your looks.
Then I found the man
behind the mohawk and dark clothes.
But one of my best friends had loved you,
so you were off limits.
I moved past you and planned a
future with another.
I loved him then, and I do now.
However, when I sat with you I thought
"What if?"
What if my friend hadn't loved you?
What if I hadn't met my fiance?
What if you had returned my feelings?
When we said goodbye, I hugged you.
I said, "I'll miss you."
You said, "I love
you too."
My psych-oriented mind told me your response
was a Freudian Slip, but I couldn't be sure.
I walked away from you and into my fiance's
welcoming arms.
I cried not from the pain of
leaving my old life, but of the uncertainty.
I cried for the "What if."
Two years later, I still think of you.
I see you with a new woman and I wonder
if she makes you happy.
Then my fiance enters the room.
He smiles at me and makes me
feel like a goddess.
He supports me both emotionally
and financially.
My life revolves around him now.
So when I see you with a new woman,
I do wonder.
I do hope you are being treated with
the love you deserve.
But I don't ask "What if" anymore.
