Hey folk this is something that Davideo7 and I have been talking about doing for a couple of weeks now. We do need a name for this and I thought that it would be a good idea to get some ideas from all of you. Feel free to post your opinions on how the show is going and if you would like to add any ideas. Like I said in the podcast this is just and experiment that both Davideo7 and I are hoping will work great for the site.

We need your input on this podcast please post after you listen to it. We also need a name for this podcast show so please post your input on this as well. The more people that post on this the more time and effort will be put in to make the shows better, but if there isn't a good response to this then we will just forget it. It is my understanding that this would end up making vizzed.com the first gaming site with its own podcast. 

I'm being entirely honest here, so don't think I'm being mean about any of it.

Things to improve on

- Speaking.

This isn't limited to how you seem to say "um" after every few sentences. Feel excited, feel confident. I have decent patience for things like this, but you need to get them as into it as you desire. An easy remedy is to simply raise the tone of your voice slightly, and to write out what you plan to say before a show. It helps dramatically.

- Topics.

Make it clear what the main topics are at the head of the broadcast. Example - If I did the show, and I was going to talk mostly about the PS4 rumors, the WiiU, and how companies are ruining the industry, I make it known at the start. "Hello, welcome to our weekly podcast. Today we have three main topics on tap; We'll examine how companies are ruining video gaming, we'll take a look into what the WiiU entails, and we'll glance over some PS4/XBox 720 rumors. But first, let's talk about minor topic A."

Once you finish minor topic A, you go to one of your main topics and spend time on it. Then look over Minor Topic B, and touch on your second main topic. And then a third minor topic and anything else you want to cram in before the finale, The third main topic.

- Getting a clearer image for the podcast.

As it stands you see an image. A static image. For the entire duration of the video. Show some images throughout the podcast to show people the current topic if they lose track of where they are at.

But again the biggest thing is just speech. That alone can make it loads better.

How about "The Vizzed Report"

     Awesome, I will take any advice or opinions rather good or bad to heart. 

Other than the voice suggestions by leggy, the only thing that I could suggest is finding someone else to have on with you. If you could somehow manage to find someone who would be willing to put enough effort into this to be able to improve their speaking skills (or, much less likely, someone who already has good speaking skills), then it would add a lot to the podcast. Especially since most of your topics are kind of conversational, and are hard to present with just one person.

But if you do keep to it yourself, I'd rather hear just your ideas. Come up with your opinion that you feel strongly about it and try to tell us why we should agree. It felt more like you were kind of passively presenting some recent stories, and then more asking for our opinion. If that's all this is, then I don't see why it wouldn't be better to let you write threads in your own section of the forum and ask for our opinion. Anyway, that's what I thought about the first episode.

I do want to ask something, though. You told leggy that you wrote out a script for this. Did you write our what you were going to say word for word? 'Cause I'd highly suggest using an outline instead. That way you basically know what you're going to say, but you don't feel forced to stick to what you wrote. Plus it just makes it easier to follow what you wanted to talk about, in my opinion.

soxfan849 : The key points were mostly word for word....I had to redo the recording like six times before I got to this recording because I kept getting lost and going of script. I'm on that likes to free verse so the suggestion of just writing key points is a great idea I think I will try that with this next episode. As for adding another person my goal is to be able to somehow get a live option on this...However, the only way will even start to come into talks if this becomes a hit. This is my very first podcast that I have done and recorded so I knew there were going to be some  bad parts and some really bad parts. I'm also liking the idea of having another person on this podcast...My wife actually brought up that idea so your not the only one to think this...However, the person that I have in mind to do this would have to okay the idea of being on a podcast...

Okay I have been working on the next episode for this project, and  have only gotten one idea so far for a name for this podcast. Come on people I know you all are creative I have seen most of your sigs...So as of right now we have "The Vizzed Report" keep the names coming

For the production of the podcast :
You can aim for an adaptive approach for the podcast, it can be as you did with the first one (simple and straight to the point) and other times you add all sort's if and when you feel like it (clips, music, interview's,and have other people host the podcast, you get the idea), so that you don't have to make every one elaborate.

Also if you're aiming to include a wider audience, then could you maybe leave the more controversial issue's in another article,
like leave a pointer for people listening in to the place to discuss such things, so that it doesn't have a varied maturity to it but still has the full spectrum of news.

For the frequency of the podcast :
Just when there is something note worthy.

Title for the podcast :
Vizzion , Vizzcast (hammy?), Vizzed News , VIzzed Community Podcast (VCPC).

The podcast is a really good idea, and as there is plenty of people willing to be part of it, I'm sure it go a long way.

On3On : Thank you for your feed back, and the name suggestions. Honestly, I didn't realize how controversial this first episode was until it was brought up. I was sort of wanting to make the podcast into a talk show where the people of the site could post their opinions on certain topics. However, this next episode will be done differently, I'm taking all the feed back that was given to me and putting it into this next episode. I think since this seems to be slightly popular right now that we will do a podcast weekly. My goal is to be able to do different kinds of shows that are related to this site not just a news one but sort of like a talk show kind of podcast like what the first episode but where there would be chances of live broadcast with actual people being able to call in. So that way vizzed sort of has its own radio station. It something that I and Davideo7 have be talking about so it won't happen for a while but it's a goal that I have to expand this Idea even further.

A media outlet for Vizzed is a very good idea, as it could mean that it will put the focus on some of the more interesting things going on here.
Nothing has to be set in stone when it comes to a schedule, do it when possible is all I can say.

And it doesn't need load's of podcast's either, you can easily get people to write some article's too.
Also- I see no problem with mature topics being included in the podcast's. (it gives it an much needed human-touch)

I'm not sure what else I can tell you but if you would like more feedback- I'll try to help.

On3On : I'll take all the feedback I can get. Technology just did not like me this past week...lol

Right away I came up with an idea that you could try out. Somebody mentioned having another person talk on the show with you. Now, we all know that members rarely meet each other offline unless you live in the same city or have been friends to begin with, but what you could do is have somebody do a separate segment of talking (voice only, unless you decide to add videos) and then send it to you where you merge it into one file and upload it.

Or, you could take it a huge step further and create a dialogue with another person. To do this you would have to come up with a dialogue ahead of time, in text, and have both people create sound files of them talking. The other person sends all of his/her file to you and you would arrange them in the order of one person talking after the other. Essentially fooling someone into thinking that there really is another person there talking with you. You would have to create a ton of files, and it would take some time to put together, but if done correctly it would be an epic creation.

I think we need some new voice talent on the podcast. If we are doing something like this for the site, why wouldn't we hold "Tryouts" to find the people that are good at this sort of thing? Saying "Um" so often makes you want to turn it off after about 2 mins.

You also need to have someone else on it, or have listeners call in. This would make it much more interesting. The overall sound quality of the podcast could also be improved.

I'm really not trying to be mean, it's just my honest opinion.

Honesty is good, there is a reason why there wasn't tryouts to do this is because its an experiment to see if there is any kind of interest. Public speaking is the hardest thing to do. The fact that I said um a lot and I agree with you I said it a lot....Does make the quality go down a lot as well. But when your nervous and trying to keep your voice down because you live with your in-laws and they are a sleep by 8:00pm every night and then you have your wife playing with your three year old's power ranger toys in the back ground it gets pretty nerve racking. Not to make excuses but I know that this first episode was a bomb...I'm working on making this second podcast 100% better. But still thank you for being honest the more feedback that i get with this first episode the better the second episode will be. I also know that I can't please everyone for those people that I can't make happy I'm sorry...

I forgot to add one important thing to my last post- and this may completely get rid of the "um" factor: What you could do is break down your talking into segments, just like the dialogue idea I mentioned. Focus on speaking and recording small parts of the show, maybe 30 seconds to a minute long, and put them all together. This way you could focus on speaking perfectly, and instead of doing it for the whole thing while getting words wrong or making too many pauses you could simply erase the recording and redo it without having wasted too much time.

Try practicing that.

Cyro Xero : those are great ideas to try...willing to try anything at least once to make this as successful as possible. I'm learning more about the programs that I have on this computer that will also help make this podcast a whole lot better too. 

You're doing Ok so far, I hope that you have some more good ones coming soon.

I have the script written out already, just need to record the podcast and do some fancy uploading and transferring the files to different programs and then to youtube then finally to vizzed.com. So yeah still a lot of work to do, but episode II should be up in no time
