Absolutely not. I think that the game itself is terrific. It is just suffers the same thing that Legend of Zelda II. It is just so different from all the other Mario games, so it causes people to not like it. But there is the fact that this game is simply Doki Doki Panic, only they replaced the hero characters in this game with Mario Characters. But the music, levels, and enemies are all unchanged. Now, if people played Doki Doki Panic with no knowledge of 'Super Mario Bros 2' a lot more people would think it was awesome because they wouldn't be comparing it to Mario.

Anyways, I don't find Mario 2 a bad game anymore, I use to dislike it, but after playing it, its pretty fun. I like it.

I don't think it was a matter of people finding it a bad game, but that they didn't like the change, and that they detested the fact that it ended with you finding out that you were only in a dream, making it feel like it was a waste of time (Isn't that like the same situation with Mass Effect 3? )

Anyways, I didn't find it all that bad, to be honest. It was alright, but hard to get the hang of at first, Nya~.

I do like the game, because of not only it's brutal difficulty that goes up quickly each level, but discovering the secret warps.

My favorite part is trying to tilt the cartridge just like the nintendo 64, but the NES can only have one glitch with tilts, scrambled objects and items, plants, and random enemy placement along with some random floor lines the length of infinity.

The dream thing CAN NOT be said in a retro game review because you aren't allowed to post ANY spoilers in a review.

That would be reaction if I never saw the ending on YouTube.

Other than that, it is ok, but the difficulty is just absolutly outrageous! I never beat world 6-1 with warps because of that absolute horrible/worst ending filled with boos in it, I can NOT stress that enough. ^(
