Heya guys! Even all the hype about Skyrim, I have taken the time to revisit Oblivion and Morrowind. I must say, I'm HOOKED on Oblivion again. What about everyone else? Has anyone here took the time to revisit older TES games? Discuss.

As I'm doing a Let's Play of the second episode of The Elder Scrolls, I wanted to play Arena, the first one. Compared to Daggerfall and the other episodes, Arena is really simple and not really confusing in my opinion. I mean, the first thing I noticed is the map. Arena has a map, top view, everything is clear on it. However, Daggerfall has a confusing map, especially for huge dungeons. During my Let's Play, I can't tell you how many times I was lost, looking at my map and spinning around like a record. Second thing I noticed (and probably the stinky stuff), why did they change the experience system?! The one in Arena is simple compared to Daggerfall: you make your progress in the quest, exploring the dungeons and kill some monsters as you want in order to level up. I don't want to talk about Daggerfall, I think I'm a bit clear: the experience system sucks a bit. No really, it's so complicated: all those skills, abilities, percentages and bla bla bla... sometimes my head is about to explode. I'm just level 4 in my Let's Play. Guess how many parts did I record until now? 70 parts! I'm not kidding. Ok, Daggerfall has more things to do, which is really good, it's a long game (thinking about that, now it's a good thing I mentioned it will be a long Let's Play at the beginning of the first part ), but I wasn't expecting this one to be so long and take forever to be beaten (just kidding ha ha ^^).

That's just my opinion, but I prefer the first episode and I wish the developers could keep the old experience system and the old map design.

I love Skyrim, but I think I spent more time playing Oblivion. Just because when it came out, there really wasn't a whole lot like it. A very unique experience for it's time.

I never really played much Morrowind but I really have been wanting to start playing it. Just to see what it's all about.

Jordanv78 : You really need to. The main reason why is because the story is so much better than Oblivion. The core of Oblivion's story was good, but I thought it was too jumpy, short, and not developed well. Morrowind has an amazing story line. 

I revisited both Morrowind and Oblivion in the months leading up to Skyrim. In case any one is interested Bethesda has made the first 2 games freeware and you can download them directly off of elderscrolls.com. They are definetly dated but are fun none the less. It's a nice piece of fan fare and if it were any other company they would be selling it still.

I have Morrowind for classic Xbox and aim to play it once I get my xbox fixed, I was starting the game and in the middle of a quest the disk reader broke or something. Maybe it's just dusty, I'll have to find a disk cleaner.
