I would assume that at least some of y'all know about my relationship with catpup, if not most of y'all. At least the people in chat, or have me on Facebook should know. But I'm not here just to tell you this. I want to tell y'all, and ask of some help to a situation I'm facing. No, this isn't a "relationship ending" problem, but it does dictate us from taking our relationship to the next level; actually meeting up. I've already asked someone for help, but I want many tips on what to do.

I'll explain my plan, and the problem:

As I've already stated, I want to actually meet with catpup, but we live almost 2000 miles away, which is not just a walk down the street... It would take several days to do 2000 miles in a car. I’m pretty sure there is no possible way for me to take a plane, seeing how my family is poor. A big problem I'm having is that I don't have a clue what my mom would think about this plan. I haven't even talked to her about me going up to Canada to meet catpup, only her coming down to Texas; she was completely fine with her coming down, but those plans were foiled quickly, anyways.

My birthday is coming up, and I was thinking about asking this as a serious birthday present from the whole family, assuming that my mom, grandma, and little brother would probably want to go to Canada anyways... The only thing that really concerns me is a) Actually getting my mom to be okay with this plan, and b) the money needed to take the trip... My family is already planning a trip to Colorado in the summer, which would cut deep into the money supply needed to go to Canada... I would actually get a job to help pay for the trip, which I already sort of have, but I still don't know if it will be enough.

I could really use some help on this situation, as you can see I'm serious about this...

crazycatpup : I just though I would summon you here, since you are my girlfriend.

Sounds like an interesting situation. Truth is that long distance relationships are hard enough, especially when you are talking about different countries. It's gotta be tough to have any sort of "relationship" when you haven't even met the other person....

Maybe you could figure something out where you meet in Colorado while your family is out there. That way you can save yourself the stress of trying to come up with separate monies to try and fly up to Canada.

I gotta agree with Jordan....on maybe meeting in Colorado for the money issue.......I also agree that well........2000 miles is a serious distance bro.....you might want to try Skype 1st to see how things go...its like a video phone.  This is a tricky situation from my point of view b/c well.......it could go 1 of 2 ways......really amazing or absolutely awful.......but on the real life is about taking risks.......just make sure that if you go for it the person is actually "real" which hopefully you have done already.....b/c if not that would be just terrible and you could end up spending mad cash for the b/s.....Hope that helps some......See I'm in a similar situation right now but I know the girl, shes 1 state away, and have been talking for over year now.......we trust one another......it's not really an online thing which is a difference.......once again If ya need any advice just give me a shout......Take it easy.......

Jsmooth15 : I have Skyped with her, I actually Skype with her a lot. I try to at least once a week if I can, sometimes more. I've talked to her everyday for the almost 4 months we've been dating, I trust her completely, and I'm 100% sure I wouldn't be wasting any money to go see her.

Jordanv78 : You know, that's actually not a half bad idea... I'll talk to catpup about this. Thanks for the idea!

pi0x : No problem at all. Just keep your head up about the whole situation. If it was meant to work out, it will. If not, then you can move on to other things.

I really do think that meeting in Colorado sounds like the best idea for both parties involved.

You are coming to Colorado huh? Well I live there You are either better off meeting up in the southern park or northern part of colorado though both are pretty desolate, I would not suggest meeting up in the downtown area cause it would be pretty difficult finding one another and its also a mess traffic wise.

You should really go to the mountains here cause the city sucks.

As for 2000 miles apart that is a problem. You guys are still pretty young so if you somehow do meet up that will be a pretty big achievement though keeping it together 2000 miles apart after that would be pretty difficult.

Where do you plan on going in Colorado though??? One place you could meet up at would be Six Flags in you are in to roller coasters and amusement parks. That would be one place you could meet up that wouldn't be too awkward for your families. Maybe you should stay at same hotel That works even better and you wont have to force your families to drive to a certain spot to meet up.

JigSaw : I wish I could remember where it is we are going in Colordao. >.<

That would probably be a lot of help with the meeting up thing.

If I'm ever in your area in Colorado, I should visit you sometime, as well. It would be pretty interesting meeting two people from Vizzed haha. Although meeting a grown man off the internet would seem a little awkward... Even more so than me meeting my girlfriend.

I know that feel, bro.

There's no easy way to decide what to do, but I'll tell you this: You are still in school. From what I understand, Catpupguy is not. Do with that thought what you will.

Also, just for added information, at that distance, it costs about the same for a round-trip ticket as for round-trip car-fare, but a bus is extremely cheap (If you feel up to it). Bus travel is not for the weak of heart, though.

I think I have more to say on the subject, but not here. PM me if you ever have any questions.

Lazlo Falconi : I plan on doing this over the summer, which would give me plenty of time to actually do it.

I've ridden to Colorado for a ski trip in a rented Charter bus(my school rented it), and it wasn't that bad, just a little uncomfortable.

My mom actually seemed fine with the idea of going up there, she's just concerned about time, since she probably couldn't get off work for this.

Meeting up in a designated location does sound a lot easier. I mean, Colorado is pretty much right in the middle of you two, and that sounds like it can work out quite well. I mean, its pretty much nearly foolproof. As long as you two can actually get there without any interruptions, you guys meeting would be flawless. Time will tell, eh?

pi0x : A charter bus and a coach bus are two very different beasts. If you were going to get a charter bus just for you to go up there you may as well go all the way and rent a private jet.

pacman1755 : The fool has proven that planned flawed, so quickly...

Lazlo Falconi : No, no, I wouldn't rent my own Charter bus... haha. Just hitch a cheap ride from one. Renting a Charter bus for just two people would be kind of stupid.

Well, I don't know about getting on a Charter bus, they're usually pretty private, but a Greyhound bus from Houston to Toronto (I don't know where you guys live exactly but I think those are large cities around you) is only about $100 round trip.

Lazlo Falconi : I live closer to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. So I would assume that they have plenty of buses and stuff there.

It's really nice to hear that buses can be so cheap, even for a round trip. I've made $65 the past few days. Heh, almost covered the cost of the bus(sort of). I'm sure I can find more work easily enough.

I chose to read only your first post. And no one elses to make this opinion.

Long distance relationships are hard.

I've been with my girlfriend since November 6th 2010.

In that time, we've only been together once, and only for a week 2 months ago.

She lived on the west coast, and I lived on the East coast. So it was 3300 miles.

The biggest obstacles in no particular order

1. money - You need money to book plane tickets, and you need to likely go on your own on a plane, just because financially it's the best plan.

2. Place to Stay - If her guardians aren't cool with you staying there, you need to have a place to stay in advance. This admittedly was a mistake on my end. I didn't have a place to stay, and had to rely on the fact I'm charismatic to charm people into letting me stay with them. I stayed in 3 different houses that week.

3. Canadian-US relations - as I'm sure you are aware, you need a passport just to get INTO Canada now. As such, you need to get the passport as soon as possible. And even then, there's a bit of studying to do, Canada may not be that different, but it's different enough you should be aware of several things before you go.

4. Fallback plan - In case things go sour, you need to have a fallback, since it's likely you booked a round trip that leaves on a certain date. If things go wrong, you need to have a backup plan at all times. And that plan should ALSO have a backup as well just in case. You can never be too careful.

legacyme3 : I actually found something very interesting one time when I almost went into Canada, although this was almost a year back, I'm not sure if this law still applies.

Apparently you don't NEED a passport to get into Canada from the U.S.. I got this information directly from the boarder patrol last year. The border patrol told me you can get into Canada if you have a government issued birth certificate, but that might be even harder to get than a passport, since you'd have to go to a court room to get it.

I don't really know how accurate this is, because I was told that a long time ago.

Yeah, I actually have a lot of planning left to do. This sort of thing is very hard to get together, because of all the factors to consider; permission from my mom to go, money, a place to stay, etc. Although I still have enough time to get this all together... If my mom would take this a little more seriously. She pretty much thinks this is just something I want to do for fun, like some silly little plan that would never go through, but it's not. I'm trying my hardest to get this all together and I'm sure I can, especially with all the helpful advice I am getting from y'all. I can see a lot of people have been in my situation and obviously know about this more than I do.

I hope I have enough time to get this plan together.
legacyme3 : I actually found something very interesting one time when I almost went into Canada, although this was almost a year back, I'm not sure if this law still applies.

Although I still have enough time to get this all together... pi0x : No, no, no.

No.

No.

Seriously, no.

What?

No. Only children under age 16 can present a certified birth certificate when crossing the U.S./Canada border by land or sea, to make no mention of air travel. You need a passport, since I doubt you'll be doing this before your next birthday. Furthermore, getting an official birth certificate is EXTREMELY easy. Heck, I could probably get your birth certificate without ever leaving my house. But the easiest way to do it is to go to the court HOUSE (Not a court room--they're very different buildings) and find the Office of Vital Records (or whatever your local court-house calls it), give them your name and social security number, and maybe show a driver's license. Oh yeah, there may be a fee of up to fifteen whole dollars.

Lazlo Falconi : Well, I guess that guy didn't tell me the whole truth then... Oh well, it's no matter, since there is only a 1 and 5% chance this actually might happen now.

My mom doesn't want to go by bus, only plane, which is way too expensive for us. That's why there is such a small chance now, When I told her we could go by bus, because they are cheaper, she gave me a face of pure disgust. She doesn't want to seem to budge on her transportation standards either...

Now what...?

Well, does your mom have to come? I'm certain she WANTS to, but what if you just left without sort of telling her about it? I'm not saying you should do this by any means, but I AM thinking it awfully loudly, yes.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Lazlo Falconi : I'm pretty sure that me leaving by myself with out my mom even knowing would be a terrible idea... She gets mad at me if I just walk down the street to the store or a friends house without telling her. So, I could only imagine the deep trouble I would be in if I left for Canada; 2000+ miles away with out her permission or knowledge.

I honestly don't even know what she would do, or what I would have to do for forgiveness, if she would even give me forgiveness until I'm 30... So, yeah I'm not going to leave for Canada just on a spur without anyone knowing...
