Dodge Dart – US $21,000

Another car that I more practically admire is the 2013 Dodge Dart that is expected to come out this July 2012. While it is not out for sale yet, I have found multiple sites, videos, and other resources that will allow me to better help you understand the specifics behind the 2013 Dodge Dart.

I will first start be talking about the different sizes of cars that the Dodge Dart will be divided into. There will be 5 main sizes: The SE, the SXT, the RALLYE, the Limited, and the R/T. Something I need to clear up right now is that they are not actually different sizes more as cars with differing amounts of technological features and outside characteristics that make them separate within the all encompassing cloud of Dodge Dart.

The SE is really known for 5 major things. The first is that is meant for people to buy a lot more easily. What I mean by this is that the car is more compact for more efficiency and the price is lower as well. The engine of the SE is a 2 Liter 160 horse powered 4 cylindered Tigershark with 6-speed manual transmission, which means that the engine is a lot less powerful than the last one that I reviewed, but hey, this one is one that is at least 10 times more cheaper. It comes with 10 airbags and Projector headlamps and LED taillamps.

The SXT is known for having all the features of the SE, but also having 17 inch aluminum wheels. Here we see an outside change that is present in this version, but not in the other. What we also know is that the SXT is pretty much a better and more expensive version of the SE. It has rear view mirrors, locks, and remote keyless entry. One of the cooler features is the UConnect Touch. In the Youtube and links section there is a video and description of this system. What it really does is enhance your driving experience by letting you make calls and listen to music from the device, which I find to be pretty neat. The engine is a multiair turbo engine. This really implicates a few things. One is that the power can be increased to up to 10% and the torque, the twisting force applied to the car, by 15 percent. The other benefits of this type of engine encompass consumption of fuels. The consumption of fuels by the engine is reduced up to 10 percent and the CO2 emissions are reduced to up to 10 percent. The engine itself is really good thus far when you see all the effects that have been listed.

The Rallye is the next version that I will discuss. What the Rallye really is, is the upgrade of the SXT by having a lot more features that the SXT doesn’t have. In fact the dodge website states the Rallye to be “Set your Dart apart with the distinctive Rallye package that builds off the SXT.” Clearly we see that the Rallye is superior to the other two and we also notice a trend that each of the versions are really hierarchical with each building off of the last. If you look at the grille of the Rallye compared to a SXT then you will clearly see a difference in how the Rallye looks. The Rallye’s grill is a lot longer from the top to the bottom and it looks a little bit darker in color as if the SXT was more of a grayish color compared to the Rallye’s black. A few of the unique features of the Rallye compared to the SXT is that the Rallye has Black headlamp bezels (not really very important), projector fog lamps (The projector fog lamps are really good if you live in places that get a lot of fog during the year, even if you don’t if you get the Rallye, you’ll get this extra protection against you initiating a car crash if you ever do find yourself amidst thick fog. The leather warpped steering (you can actually get a leather cover for 25$ online, but why not just start with the leather cap in the first place? I do not think of this as a genuine reason to get the car, but more of a benefit that will result from getting this version compared to other versions that people may select. There is also hyper black aluminum wheels that are available for those who want them. This is actually pretty cool because you are given a few more decisions in the variety of options that you have for customizing how your car looks like. The rallye also has a trip computer, which like the SXT just enhances your driving experience.

You also have the cool feature of audio controls on your steering wheel. No, this is not actually driving with speaking (That in fact would be really dangerous if you missay something by accident or while talking to a friend you use a command word Too many easy accidents that can be avoided, LOL) What it does is gives you the ability to do several other things. One of these with the music player. With the audio controls, you are given the ability to do things like change stations and adjust volumes with your voice. The Car Wiki states that the benefit of these sort of audio controls is that allows you to have more convenience while driving. Another reason, and perhaps more important one, is the fact that now the elderly can drive more safely since they will not have to reach out to try to change stations or do any of the things that were mentioned before. One other main feature of the audio controls is with the U connect that was mentioned earlier. If you look at the description that I put for the youtube video dealing with that below, then you see that you have the option to use Bluetooth to connect your phone to the u connect and call using it. In the car, you may receive calls that will ring in the U connect. What the audio controls let you do, is answer those calls easily.

There are two more cars left the limited and the R / T. Starting with the Limited, we can see a shift in the hierarchy that I had discussed before. The limited is actually stated by dodge to be on about the same level as the Rallye, a different type of upgrade on the SXT. Whereas most of the adjustments on the Rallye were made to make the car aesthetically pleasing, the Limited prides itself on making adjustments to make the car more technologically advanced. Because they are on the same level I will have to repeat a few adjustments from the SXT that I already stated as part of the Rallye, but I will not be elaborating on them again. The Limited has a shorter grill than the Rallye, just about the same as the SXT. There are projector fog lamps for those living in very foggy places. The U connect touch is available. The screen in front of the driving wheel is actually a 7 inch reconfigurable display that you can change to make say anything that you really want it to say. It uses available polished aluminum wheels (different form the Rallye which used leather wheels if you recall), there is a trip computer, and the Steering wheel mounted audio controls again work for your convenience and safety through letting you control Bluetooth and Music through voice command.

The R / T is seen as an upgrade of the limited (not the Rallye). This one also uses the Tigershark that also has the MultiAir II. The horsepower is still pretty low at 184 h p for 2.4 L. The black grille of the Rallye is again seen here (also the grille is about as large as the Rallye). The R / T has 18 inch aluminum wheels. The inside has also been made aesthetically pleasing with a few cool changes that have made it that way. One of them is the premium Nappa leather trimmed interior and what that is, is another attempt at making the car look more elegant and expensive from the inside with much more quality. The integrated dual exhaust in the Rallye is also apparent here as well as the Black headlamp bezels.

This youtube video is not one of those professional car ads, but it just is a 2 minute video showing the car driving around. What I really like about the video is that it allows me to check all the angles on the car and actually see it in driving action. If I am going to get the dart, it may be a red one, so I am seeing what it should look like and in what condition should I expect to actually see it in. For many of you though it just may be a boring video since there really is no music or anything to keep you entertained. The car is just for informational purposes only.

I think that this site is brilliant for learning about the car in the fact that it has nearly all that you need to know about it. It also includes pictures and design and all sorts of necessary information that I have put here. I would supplement the reading from there with the youtube videos that I have posted here as they will really help you remember what you have already learned as well as will any gaps in your memory. The review itself that I posted here will make simpler everything that you learned there, so I suggest that you look over there as a good way to fill in the middle portion of your research, between reading the review that I posted here and the actual youtube videos. The actual site is divided into photos (where you get to see all the different pictures of the interior and exterior of the car, which is really nice before buying the car, or in case your computer is like mine and freezes a lot in the youtube videos, you still get a great view of the car and can just let that buffering time be used to load only the informational videos), design (which talks about the changes that has made the car more aesthetically pleasing to the people, as well as an interactive screen that allows you to check out the car, change what version / class of it it is, and then go on to even check out different colors for the car. I found that feature to be pretty useful as well as nice), performance (what this part really talks about is the tigershark and the multi air, which means that you get a pretty good information on your own engine. There are pictures of the engine as well, if that floats your boat.), technology (the site does not really spend much more time on this than really just talking about the u connect as that is really the main technological feature about the car), and finally safety and security (this is really where the site talks about all the different features, such as the 10 airbags which really make the car much more safer than others, they even boast to have more than 60 safety and security features.)

What this video really is just the Dodge Brand CEO revealing the Dodge Dart. If you do happen to look at the comments then you see some bashing based on the fact that it is only 17 mpg, which is actually one of the major reasons why I may not get a car like this. Because of the fact that it has so less mpg means that it will be sucking up my money really quickly as gas prices continue to rise. It in fact is one of the main reasons why I will not be getting the car to begin with. As price is the main reason why this is not affordable to me, that is really the true reason why the thread is a wish list. On the plus side of the comments there are many that really talk about how the interior is actually pretty nice. That is something that Dodge prides themselves on for this car. The low horsepower is also bashed, but I think the negatives and the positives even each other out on most cases.

I like the video because it starts by talking a little about how the dart was a name derived from the 1970s Dart. Then the guy goes on to talk about the different features of the car. There are a few pictures in the middle of a white version of the car which was pretty neat. Cool video overall I believe.

I mostly just put this video up for your enjoyment. I am pretty sure that I have stated somewhere in here how the Dodge Dart was also the name of a car that was popular in the 70s. The video depicts an ad for the 1967 Dodge Dart where you get to see a few pretty cool things. One is the inside of the hood where the narrators explains through everything that you see (most of it I don’t understand because it’s all car information, but it sounds good ). The narrator also shows you around the car, which is pretty good so that you can see how the car really looks like. I believe that most of the reason that people buy these types of cars is because of the fact that this can be used in auto shows. A few photos are showed of the outside and then the narrator goes on to explain many of the features within the interior, which doesn’t look bad at all. He goes on to turn on the car while showing the engine and the dual exhaust and then takes it for a drive down a neighborhood. If you just want to see this part it starts at around 4:20 and goes on for about 10 seconds, so it lets down a little, but overall the video is nice.

I really only watched the first 1.5 minutes of this video, because I felt that was the most I could take out of it. I chose this video as well for your enjoyment because it is depicting a 1968 Dodge Dart going at 132 mph in a race, which was pretty neat. The sound coming from the car was extremely high, so I ended up having to mute the volume really quickly as my volume was set up pretty high What I heard from the race though was that those types of cars were really really loud, LOL. I am not sure whether it was how cars were at that time or what, but it blasted my eardrums. I found it really cool also to see how it would match up against a motor cycle, but it seems to have done pretty well for such an old car.

I think that I will make this the final youtube video, but here is another old Dart! It is a 1972 Dodge Dart. The narrator pretty much starts out by going around the car. The seats have these sorts of vertical columns, which I do not believe to have seen ever in modern cars. The panel in the front of the car is really old, but when you look at the car from the outside you see the car as really a nice one. It’s probably for those ‘bad boys’, LOL. I say that because of the amount of “Demon” written on it. The car is red with a cool black stripe running down the side. Even the sheet that they show on the front of the car says ”Exercise the Demon in YOU!!!”. I think that it was a pretty nice looking car, but not something that I would ever take the initiative to get, let alone drive it around or take it anywhere.

So overall the dodge dart looks like a pretty decent car that fits my personal needs. The only major problem as I stated before is the low mpg which really is the reason that I do not truly look at this car as a viable option. Others do not because of the lack of horsepower and things of the like. I personally like this car, if it were not using so much gasoline, meaning money that is coming out of my pockets .

The reasons to get it were mostly because of the way that the car was made aesthetically pleasing to the viewers and of the technology that has been put into the car. I do expect that a good number of the sales originate from the u Connect option combined with the qualities of the car itself. The aesthetically pleasingness of this car was seen a bit on the outside, but as many cars are aesthetically pleasing on the outside it is usually on the inside that we make our comparisons. Even so, on the inside, this car keeps its charm with an outstanding view, if you have seen the photos for which I put links earlier, then you know how nice the inside of the car looks, which it why the way the car looks is great! It is one car that you would like to be seen driving around in (at least if you are me), but definitely not wanting to keep up with the gas and the maintenance. I think that I have never seen a car with an in built u connect (The gps I currently own has that feature, but I do not really use it as I don’t always have my GPS on). I think that actually having an inbuilt one will make you a lot safer while driving as you can call and pick up phone calls through talking, which I always found fascinating. I also found the way that you could chance and reconfigure the panel at the front of the car with the 7’ panel to be cool as well. I actually have never seen that type of feature in a car, but it would be more of a luxury that I would be able to enjoy rather than an actual reason for me to buy the car as well.

So I do hope that you have enjoyed today’s review, even though it was another car (although if you do recall, this car is a lot different from the previous one, which is mainly the true reason behind why I focused on different points in this one than I had done in the one before). I encourage you to check out my F12 Berlinetta, the Garmin Stopwatch, the Brother Printer, and the other threads that I have created in the wish list portion of the Web Splurge. If you have been able to read through this enormous post, then I commend you. Good job!

Have a nice day!

Not exactly my kind of car. I like sporty cars, trucks, or nice Sports Utility Vehicles. I do not really like small Sedans that much. Sorry, but that is just my opinion. and you just had to take it with like, five minutes left, didn't you? grrrrr

I've always loved the Dodge brand of automobiles I was raised with them but I'm not reluctant to try different types besides them I prefer sports cars over anything but I'm willing to try others.

My brother has a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger with an upgraded engine... honestly, if that thing gets 14 mpg I'd be shocked. That is the fun thing about muscle cars, they get horrible mileage... though I have to admit that in today's market 17 is extremely low.

Still, I am going to see if my brother knows about this and how much he is laughing.

Sexy car and quite affordable in the grand scheme of things really, one of the cheapest good looking cars of its calibre I've seen. I think cars are cheaper in America than England though unless it's made domestically. I've seen quite a few of these car presentations from you, you seem to enjoy making these aha. Cool mini project to work on I guess if your not already you should be an analyst of some sort, gather loads of information present it in a nice readable and easy way and get mucho monies! You've already got the information gathering and presentation techniques down to a tee, nice presentation and I can definitely see why it's on the wish list.
