What the hell is this, and why should I care?

I don't ever touch it, and I x out. My computer hasn't exploded so I imagine I'm doing something right.

The key word is software.
DLL. Dynamic link library, software, games etc just manipulate whats already on your computer to make results, the library contains a ton of data, when youre cpu runs a program it consults the library periodically, if the books are strewn across the floor (so to speak) finding things becomes damn near impossible.
Id run registry cleaner.

Having issues with windows registry affects how your computer performs. So depending on the severity of the issue, your computer could run very slow or crash often if there are many registry errors. A lot of time this is caused by viruses, but there can be other reasons for it.

Keeping your registry clean and compact will help your computer run at it's optimum level.

Be very VERY careful when doing anything with your registry; regardless of whether a "Registry Cleaner" tells you. In my professional opinion (Work as an IT Manager and have worked in the computer field for 5 years) do not use a registry cleaner unless you know what you are cleaning/removing.  Now did you download this program on your own or what?  I ask as the overall layout of that program looks very much like other malware programs.

Missing shared DLLs – the registry contains a list of dynamic link libraries, where they are located and how many programs use them. Application paths – some applications (mostly those registered to a file extension) are registered in the registry.

Usually you'll find these after uninstalling various programs that leave registry values even after being uninstalled. Values for some application that is no longer there...

iwxLeprechaun : PC TOOLS registry mechanic is legit.
I would tell you to go ahead and clean those. but it's always safe to make a registry back up either through the program your using or manually. -(after steps 1 & 2 below)click Export. It will ask you where u want to save (a backup) of your registry.

1. In the Start menu, click Run option.
2. Type ‘regedit.exe’ and click OK. This will open the Windows registry editor.
3. In the Windows Registry editor, navigate to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionSharedDLLs
4. Find the key to be edited by its name created by the program. You can also browse through each key to find it.
5. Make a backup of the key before making any changes. It is stored in form of .reg file.
6. Now edit the registry key and values of the un-installed software.
7. Close Windows Registry Editor.

Let me ask you, did you ever download a program titled "PC Tools REGISTRY Mechanic"? Because this is not part of any Windows operating system, and it looks to me like one of those fake anti-virus malware apps that's way worse than any virus you could possibly get. Just download MBAM and see if it can find the problem, then give Lazlo Falconi some staff points for this. But note that once you've been opened up to a security risk like this, they just keep coming. You might be better off reinstalling Windows completely.

Oh yeah, and stay away from those Russian porn sites.

I was waiting for you to post in here.

And no, I never downloaded one. At least not intentionally... It may have come by automatically when I used to go to this site to watch anime.

And how would one re-install windows haha

It depends on what version of Windows you're using. If Windows 7, about fifteen minutes to half an hour, depending on the speed of your computer. Possibly more time if you have a really slow box. If Windows XP--Could be between thirty minutes to two hours. I've sometimes even seen it take longer. But most of that time is just waiting for the Windows installer to copy and unpack the files. As for what YOU actually have to do, it only takes about ten minutes of configuration (Which is just answering a few questions about things like how you connect to the Internet, and what you want your username to be).

But it will wipe your hard drive, so you would have to back up everything you want to keep onto a separate source--which I highly recommend doing anyway. If you ever wanted to do it, I could walk you through it, it's actually quite easy. I even talked KG through it over the phone once from 1000 miles away.

Yeah, the first thing I thought when I saw that was that it was a fake virus scan. Those things really messed up my sister's computer (I don't think she was looking at Russian porn, she's just that bad at computers).

But you should definitely install Malware Bytes, like Lazlo said, and AVG. They should keep you mostly safe, if you're careful about where you go and what you download.

Also, here's a nice batch install website that's helped make things a bit more convenient for me when I need to wipe my hard drive http://ninite.com/.

Yeah, I've seen one nearly just like this before.

Not good memories x(

First it made all my icons disappear and pretended like there were really viruses. Ended up having to wipe the whole computer clean.
