Answering your question, yes a Battle Arena is planned in the future, it's still in development. So, right now, weapons and armors are a bit useless, however the other items are quite useful (like the Game Boy or the laptop which allows you to play games for free) or just for fun. Simple like ABC

There is something about the laptop you should know. The Laptop allows you to play all games in the RGR for no Viz as well as view all episodes in the Retro Toon Room. However, when MegaUpload got shut down, the Retro Toon Room died because they were all MegaVideo videos. So as of right now, the Laptop has no more function than the V-Machine, except the Laptop is going to cost you 5000 more Viz. So you might as well save 5000 Viz and get the V-Machine.
