If you have any backup save files within the save file manager (which will say BACKUP in the file name) then you could try those to see if one of them will be saved where you want in the game. They no longer load from the server though, so you'll have to place them in your own directory; refer here:

As for the crashing, try a different browser and see if that fixes it.
