I guarantee the moment you open this thread, thoughts of flaming, criticizing, or laughing at "The OC" will pop into your head.
I've heard the following about the show BEFORE I watched it:
"It's such a girly show."
"What's the point of it? Just another stupid high school drama."
"Eh, don't watch it. I heard it sucked."
"There's no frigging plot."
And, what I thought AFTER watching it:
- The plot is very well written
- The show deals with some controversial issues teenagers have to face in quite a few of the episodes of season 1+
- It doesn't suck if you actually watched it
- Most of the time the show takes place out of school, so don't assume it's a 90210-esque TV show.
- The OC is actually not girly at all.
THE STORY?:
The story starts off with Ryan Atwood and his brother stealing a car. Ryan ends up in jail with his brother, and then he meets his lawyer named Sandy Cohen. Sandy sees his younger self in Ryan Atwood, and decides to bail him out of jail and bring him to Newport, a town in the Orange County (OC) of California.
Ryan meets Sandy's wife Kirsten, and their nerdy son Seth (and by nerdy I mean NERDY, he goes to ANIME conventions). Kirsten is iffy about taking Ryan in, and she really doesn't want to let him stay at the house.
The whole rich community begins to talk when Ryan causes ripples in the gossipy little town of Newport.

Does anyone watch it? If not, then watch the first episode, and if you don't like it, then at least you'll know about the show instead of assuming things about it.
