I logged on this morning to see my computer going absolutely insane. When I clicked the logon button, it all started.

I saw 'please change your firewall settings' which I see all the time but ignore. Everything was going nicely. So, I go check my email (using Safari), and then the internet closes every time I clicked it open. I turned on all 3 of my firewalls, and my malware filter. I click and allow Safari and Internet Networking full connectivity. Safari works, but goes extremely slower than usual (Vizzed takes a full minute to load, and it'll take another 2 minutes for this thread to be sent to the board.)

Now, when I open Safari after closing my firewalls, it says, "You are not an administrator (which I sure as F*** am) and must acquire permission." so I have to click the ALLOW PERMISSION or (CONTINUE) to open the damn internet.


Screw you, Microsoft, is it because I'm using the APPLE browser? Go die in a ditch....

I wanna know, why did my computer go insane when it has no viruses, or malicious bugs in it, and all I'm doing is trying to use the internet when I need PERMISSION for that. What am I, an 8 year-old child needing permission from my Motherboard?

First thing to do is probably check for viruses or such things, sounds awfully a lot like the word of some malware program or something. Oh wait maybe it's just vista .

But yeah, run a spybot search and destroy on it. Should show if anything is wrong.

I scanned and the whole computer locked up at the end of the scanning.... GAH.

I use Firefox, i didnt even have to allow that through the firewall.. b****y program jes let its self in... Anyway, i like Vista, i dont like being asked if i want to run something if im bout to run it... But yeah... its a good system for newbies...

The internet now goes at about 2 miles per hour, and I called my friend Courtney, she said she's having the same problem with her wireless too. Apparently the storm screwed up the Fiber Optics line and now we have to endure sluggish internet for a while. You know what that means? No online games because now I have the speed of AOL 2.0

I know I should've gotten a Mac. I could still run MapleStory in BootCamp... My computer IS fast, it's just that My Vista has reached a state of paranoia.

Few things.

1. Thats a virus. Safari works fine under vista for me.
2. Dont use more than 1 firewall.. It just complicates things and makes bad things happen.
3. "Administrator" account isnt "Administrator" unless you take over your whole computer. For such instances of, a virus tries to kill your computer, as it seems it has.
The "NEEDING" of permissions to do stuff like run Safari is definatly a virus.

Does IE/FF work fine?

My computer itself goes really fast, but the internet is going so damn slow. Like I said, I think it's a wireless network disruption problem Verizon and Cox are having this week. My computer has no viruses, I've just about scanned 10 times yesterday.

So yes, it's the internet company being a douche.

I actually think I had the same exact problem a month or two ago... I tried logging in to email on safari and it shut down internet. That's when I started using firefox. Problem seemed to fix itself

Well, another problem I am experiencing with online stuff, is that my DS is sluggish connecting to WIFI connection as well.

And, it's going so slow now, that I am seeing "FATAL ERROR" all over the Vizzed Board replacing some buttons like "New Poll"

Is that with safari, or firefox?
You can get mac skins for firefox + way many more add-ons.

It's happening with all 4 browsers I have on my computer: Opera, Apple Safari, FireFox, and I.E.

I like Safari because it's a compact design, and it doesn't start with 85 toolbars punching me in the face. The Bookmarks section is very discreet and blends in with the browser, and I just love its design.... FireFox is good, but Safari is actually faster. (FireFox takes 3 times as long, even with this slow-ass internet problem I am having right now... Safari just runs horrendously slow right now, and FireFox is Grandma slow.)

About firefox... I don't know how much you leave your browser open but if I leave mine on for long enough all the design elements on a page get taken out and it's just a bunch of text on white background... it's really weird I'll take a screenshot next time it happens.

OK, I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the Wifi connection anywhere for "free" is downright illegal. That, or it's a virus that'll turn my monitor into the ghost of a homicidal Hawaiian woman that'll jump at me and eat my face... If it's neither, sounds amazing! Does it bypass any filters, like, can I play MapleStory in the middle of the woods? XD

Ah, shut off your computer, and whole wireless network (and unplug from the powerpoints) and let it sit for about an hour or two (Probably 30 mins would do) but just to be sure..

This allows things to de-magnatize or something..
