The most creative way to eliminate a undead brain sucker, even though they can't register that they're getting tortured. I would lead a single zombie into a meat factory and throw that bad boy/girl on a hook. By now it's starved and has meat and odors around it making it fanatic. Then I would pull out my whip that I premeditated to bring along. Then ever so slowly I would strip its flesh millimeter by millimeter like it has done so many times to its innocent victims. Then I would curl up and fall asleep after a nice chicken dinner. The most effective way like everyone else has said a bullet/arrow to the dome! I like the wood chipper idea also since I have cohorts who would appreciate the artistic value of a zombie death aha.

Instead of being foolish like most of the people here, I would do the silent approach. 

Since using guns is out of the question in Scotland as well, we simply can't use them. Using a Nuclear bomb or Cutting up their inside's is just unreasonable, you gotta destroy the brain, also, using guns would attract even more of them. Sound attracts 'em bro.

Since there are no guns here, it has to be the baseball bat.. or well, any melee quiet weapon. Even the crossbow works with it's re-usable ammo and it's stealth-like qualities. 

So it has to be the silent, melee weapon such as a baseball bat or a crowbar, as someone as already mentioned.

The best way to stop a zombie is by either destroying the brain or severing all the limbs. This does depend on what version of zombies you mean. Sci-fi ones usually die easily while fantastical ones usually "revive" after a while.
