I think Sega is doing the right thing is making the Sonic 4 series. It goes back to the basics in a good way. No 3D,  no humans, no awful controls or music,  and most importantly of all, no Big the Cat or any other characters that are not necessary. It's just good old Sonic like we remembered. Anyone have other opinions?

Yes, Sega is doing the right thing with Sonic 4... Never played it but, I mean it has all the things that made Sonic famous... 2D graphics, Only Sonic as character... Robotnik and his Eggpod... Yeah, I must give it a try. Oh, and even the Sonic 1 special stage is here!

It was a great game for the wiiware in summer 2009, it did a great success with bringing super sonic back!
Too bad you'll find so many lives, you think you will never lose. One thing I didn't want was the 100's digit in the life counter, instead of 99, it goes to a max of... 999!
Atleast it isn't as bad as sonic 2006.
The future sonic games (currently sonic generations from November 2011) are even better!

To me Sonic 4 is a remake of Sonic 1 but with better graphics and new skills for Sonic also I like the way they put in the classical Sonic 1 stage.

In all honesty, I didn't think Sonic 4 was TOO bad. The physics obviously needed work, everything looked like it was rubber, and that's all I could think of for problems on it. The music wasn't as bad as everyone thought it was, IMO, Nya~. Hopefully Sonic 4 Ep 2 will have a lot of fixed things in it, especially with making the plants and stuff look like their real, and not just plastic art forms.

The Sonic 4 series was pretty good, it's just the physics in Episode I were kinda bad to be honest. We need games like Sonic Megamix V 3.0 to be released officially by SEGA. That game is the pinnacle of 2D Sonic.

Sonic 4 would be great if it had lived up to the promises made when it was very first announced. The speed of a Sonic game is only rewarding when it's been earned. Games like Rush where you start out moving as fast as you can go, are not fun to play. The fun to play games are like the original where before going so fast, you need to build up momentum. Without momentum, the speed isn't rewarding.

This is what was basically said when "Project Needlemouse" was announced back in 2008, and it got me excited; unfortunately I don't feel that the game captured the "momentum" part at all. It was just speed. And the physics were messed up beyond all recognition. I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have.

Sonic 4 is a good step towards the original 3 just sonic no other character no crazy gimmicks and the music is pretty ok. I really want to see where sonic 4 takes the sonic franchise ethier make it better than it is or worse.

In terms of the series, its a great step in re-establishing Sonic as a competitive mascot in the gaming market. Other than that, it's a great continuation of the original series. The first set of 3d games had  good game play, but persistent faults such as camera control being the main problem. The second set of 3d games, the more straight forward path choosers, was great in recovering from the faults and almost removed the camera problem. The 2d games had none of the problems the 3d games had, and is a great way to encourage those who have given up on the series to come back.

I am glad that they going back to 2D. The 3D Sonics game are to get boring. Not much great music in the game, and 2D is just funner in a sonic game.
