The tower

S.C.M.

I stand alone atop the tallest tower
The enemy surround the castle walls
Their force is a raging ocean
That will soon fill the castle halls

I’ve spent my life inside its doors
Waiting safely for my demise
I’ve spent my life inside its doors
For fear of the sting of judging eyes

Now my allies are slim to none
Now the enemy starts its fun

They beat upon the gate so fervently
Even in the tower I feel their blows
They beat with such tenacity
Cause they know my life is in its final throes

I hear them now, they’ve broken through
Within their ranks, a roar of jubilee
I hear them now surround the tower,
There is no where else for me to flee

Now my allies are surely none,
Now the enemy starts its fun

With one fell move
The door to the tower gives way
And so goes my last defense
To keep the enemy at bay

I hear them chanting, roaring up the staircase
I close my eyes and pray for the end of this insanity
But only once I open my eyes do I see the truth
This is an army of my own fantasy

There was no ultimate enemy
Camped outside my gate
There was no final battle
Misinterpreted as my fate

there was no soldiers at the ready
No general in command
There was no foreign power
With an evil master plan

No cannons pointed at my walls
No catapult, nor trebuchet
It all seems kinda funny in hindsight
Like some dark comedic play  

No it all appeared in my head
My mind having a bit of fun
…yes, maybe,…
Or perhaps a vision of what’s to come…
