Hi everyone,

I'm a senior college student studying Computer Engineering. I'm getting close to graduating and have been working on my senior project programming an autonomous RC car that will play laser tag and capture the flag.

I found vizzed.com when I was looking to play the original Final Fantasy game online.  Never did I dream that I would stumble upon what I consider to be the motherlode of retro gaming.  Not long after getting my Final Fantasy fix, I indulged in some Zelda: Link to the Past, a touch of Megaman X, and a load of Pokemon Fire Red.  Since then I'd been playing my childhood favorites and even some newer ones that I'd missed since starting college.  I decided to register finally, especially with the new RGR plugin update removing saving capabilities for guests.

My favorite games categories are Zelda, Yu-Gi-Oh, Megaman X, Sonic the Hedgehog, Final Fantasy, Dragonball Z, Pokemon, and Digimon.  I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

In any case, I'm glad to be here.  Thanks for having me.

This place is really awesome. There are a lot great people here. I'm sure you'll get along with many people here.
In my experience you might start spending a lot more time on the board now, 'cause you're gonna need Viz if you want to play those games now(I've only been here about a month or so now) The Newbie Test was proboly very easy for you being in college and stuff right? I blazed through it with 100% and I'm in high school, so it had to be easy for you(I go to high school in Canada).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time on Vizzed.

Iaian - Thanks for the welcome!

Silverclaw454 - I'm looking forward to getting to know the community.  It's funny you should mention the Newbie Test; like you expected, I breezed right through it, but my Internet was a little on the fritz, so I ended up submitting the quiz three times because the form submission kept timing out.  So, I think I definitely know all the answers for the Newbie Quiz now.  What year in High School are you?  Are you planning on going to college too?

As to whether it was your Internet connection or Vizzed's servers is debatable. I am a regular member here, and I had more trouble than usual. Hopefully that is in the past now --for all of us.

Internet troubles aside, glad you could make it here. In addition to the gold mine of video games there is the Vizzed Board. Here, members can chat about any topic of interest. If you think of one that has not been started, you can make a new thread for it and earn Viz for it --when other members reply to it. If you have any questions about the Vizzed Board, feel free to send me a private message.

I'm in my last year of high school actually, the only thing standing in my way is a few classes, and my 40 volunteer hours(it's a Catholic school), after that I will be out of high school and on my way to college(hopefully). It will be awesome to wake up knowing I don't have to put on a uniform and go to school, until I get into college of course.

AuraBlaze - Thanks for the welcome.  Now that you mention it, there have been quite a few times when the site doesn't seem to work consistently, but you don't look a gift horse in the mouth, eh?  I hope to become more involved in the forums, but do you have any suggestions on where to start?  There are so many options, and I've glanced around but am having a hard time jumping in head first.

Silverclaw454 - My mom went to a Catholic girls school.  That's pretty cool.  I didn't know you had to do volunteer hours there.  College is such a completely different creature than high school-- it's harder, but it's where you finally begin to direct your future exactly the way you want to.  It's totally worth it.  I've met some great friends and even met my wife there.

I do not want to sound rude when I say this, but it is nice to see you are looking on the bright side despite the jumpy servers --we have had worse with the servers themselves. There was some trouble that David (the site's owner) had with Godaddy this past week, but I think that was taken care of a couple days ago.

As for getting active on the Vizzed Board that all depends on what topics interest you, but you have made a great start by introducing yourself here on the Newbie Forum. Take a moment to think about what you want to talk about then ask yourself which forum that topic would best fit in. Look and see if someone else has started that discussion. If it has been started already, make a reply. If not, you can make a new thread. Do no worry if the moderators close your thread and tell you that someone else already started it or the thread belongs in a different forum --it is their job anyway.

Here is a tip. When you are replying to someone and want them to be notified (not including replies to a thread like mine here), type their username, exactly how it's spelled, and place a colon ":" next to it. It needs to be done on a new line --meaning after you hit the enter key. I will give you an example by notifying (we call this action "summon") Silverslaw454.

Silverclaw454 : Hey dude, just thought I would summon you here so you would get haichi's reply.

Oh by the way, haichi, do not worry if you feel like it is a slow process to become active on the board. I was that way when I joined.

AuraBlaze : Thanks for letting me know. (even if it was an example summon)

Yeah. 40 is the minimum needed(I never got started on them yet...geez am I lazy or what?).
I'm sure college won't be to hard for me, I will probly be able to do the work; it'll just be staying on task that will be hard(I have Asperger's Syntrome, so it's harder for me to focus on the task at hand). I hope to find someone I can love too, someday. Until then, I remain single(if I don't find love that's okay too, it just means it was never meant to be).

AuraBlaze : Thanks for the tip.  I had read about summoning earlier but figured that only worked to summon mods.  I appreciate the advice, and I'll keep looking around.

Silverclaw454 : Well, that's ironic; my wife has Asperger's Syndrome.  She's actually finishing her degree this April.  So, if you need evidence that college is endurable and love is possible for you, my wife will attest to it.

I finally joined too! This site is pretty great. I was kinda nervous about it since it seems like a lot of "free online retro game sites" are sketchy, but this one is pretty amazing. Never thought I would find something like this o.O Welcome!

It's not ironic, it's just a crazy coincidence that's all. I know college will be endurable, I'm just saying that I'll have a hard time focusing on the work. As for love, there are people who live their lives, and never get married(priest's and nun's don't count).

Flists : Didn't you start your own newbie forum yet? If you haven't then you had better do that ASAP.
