REALLY No metroid. It's my fav for Nintendo I'm not saying all of them are great but I liked fusion and the originals from DS on I lost interest and I played a bit of prime.

I'm not trying to be a hipster here or anything, but I'm gonna go black sheep and say it's Kid Icarus. The original two were great platformers (albeit incredibly difficult) and I'm totally psyched for Uprising, which looks like it's shaping up to be an awesome game.
Honorable mentions go to Star Fox, Mario (of course), Pokemon, Metroid, Kirby, and Donkey Kong Country.
And you know there are a lot of franchises when that's not even scratching the surface.

Out of the ones listed here, it would have to be Pokémon, it has taken up about 200+ hours of my life.

Legend of Zelda had some amazing games, but they just didn't have the replay value that Pokémon did, unfortunately Pokémon has been pumping out some pretty crappy games as of late.

Nothing Nintendo has compares to the Legend of Zelda series as far as I'm concerned. Some of those games are legendary. I can see why others might like Mario, etc. more, but for me the best is Zelda.
