That is an interesting introduction for yourself. Definitely not the usual kind of newbie thread we get. Anyway, welcome. A few questions. How did you come across the site? Do you plan to post on the board, play the games in the Retro Game Room, or both? What kind of video games do you like, and do you have any favorites? Mainly, tell us a little about yourself.

How did you come across the site?

I actually found the site whilst researching some glitches I've been seeing in the PC version of Sonic Generations, noticed the forum was running a version of Acmlmboard and decided to lurk a little bit. Seems like the right type of place. I've been out of forums for too long, but I miss it, so hopefully this place can fill that void. I guess that sort of answers your second question, too.

Do you plan to post on the board, play the games in the Retro Game Room, or both?

Probably just posting on the boards. I have all the old games I like in some form or another. I might pop in there occasionally to see what it's all about, but from what I've read it doesn't really appeal to me all that much, if only because--as I've said--I can play my older games in some other fashion.

What kind of video games do you like, and do you have any favorites?

For a while I had gotten into a sort of groove where I only played puzzle games, but it was just the timing of the situation. If I had to choose what sort of games were my favorite, I'd definitely say platformers. You know, things like Super Mario Brothers, classic Sonic games, Sly Cooper. But I also enjoy space sims, racing games, party games, and shmups. I used to like RPGs, but the whole jRPG scene kind of killed it for me. There just aren't any good stories being told these days. Probably my favorite all-time game would be--as my name might suggest--F-Zero GX/AX. Or maybe Star Fox... Or maybe Bit.Trip Beat...

I see. One tip I have for you is summoning. If you are responding specifically to what another user says, summon them because the

thing actually has no function here. To summon, simply type the full name of the user (capitalization sensitive) and follow it with the  :  . It would look like this for my name        rcarter2: reply here (notice a space between the summon and the reply).
Note that summoning only works if it is the first thing in the line and there are no spaces before it. It also does not work if you are editing your post and try to summon someone during your editing. It has to be in the original post to work. You know you did it right if the username looks different from the rest of the text.

rcarter2 : Actually come to think of it now, it's img, url, and youtube tags that are restricted for newbie members - I thought I read somewhere that html is also restricted but I'm not sure.

He might be able to use the blockquote, but yeah that was removed in favor of the summon system.

tRIUNE : Upon closer inspection, my first post did have the HTML stripped. Baw. A whole week until I can have fun posts. I don't even get an avatar or a signature and I certainly can't edit my layout. Oh well, spammers gonna spam. Nothing I can do about that.

tRIUNE : You are correct that Newbies cannot post any form of html. I checked Usernames and Powerlevels in the Help Center.
