Remember a childhood game you used to play but never wanted to quit? You just want to play it one more time? That is how I felt when I found this game a few days ago. This game, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (D.R.M.B.M) is a great game for all ages and quite addictive.

D.R.M.B.M is about Dr.Robotnik wreaking havoc in Morbius. He wanted to try his new machine to a bunch of beans and try to change them to his robotic minions. It's up to you to stop him from changing the beans to machines by facing against 13 opponents with Dr.Robotnik as the Final Boss in the addicting game.


Gameplay: The point of this game (in Arcade Mode) is to make your opponent fill up his "space"(The field where he drops his beans) by beans and rocks (Black Beans but rocks sound better) . Beans disappear or "pop"(my term of use) when four or more of the same color beans are connected vertical, horizontal, squared, etc. Rocks are formed by 5 or more beans or a combo chain and increase with more beans are "popped" in the same chain combo. With each bean popped during a combo, rocks increase and eventually a Red Rock(s) appear. When a combo or 5+ bean popping stops, the rocks on the top of your space is the amount of rocks dropped on your opponent's side of space. Once you or the opponent runs out of space, the level ends. If you lose, you get a Game over and a continue. If your opponent loses the match, then you advance to the next round and given a password to go back where you currently (ex. you beated Arms and is given a password to advance to lv. 2 when you decide to quit).


Difficulty: Difficulty can be changed in 5 modes- easiest, easy, normal, hard, hardest.

Game modes: There are 3 modes you can play - Arcade style, exercise mode (2 player available) and 2 player head to head mode

My opinions of this game : The game is quite addicting and can get in to it for hours nonstop. I hate how you are winning and there is little chance for your opponent to win but have a great comeback and reverse the game to where you have little chance of survival. I also hate when they use the Rocks for their advantages to destroy you in a big chain combo creating 3-4 red rocks, giving you an automatic loss. I also hate when you mess up by accident and causes great problems when trying to gwt big chain combos. Music is really great and great for it's time. Exercise mode is a good way to practice and challenge yourself with levels up to lv 99.

I've never played this before, but I've heard good things about it and I'm a pretty big fan of puzzle games. I might check it out in the future.

Anyway. Very solid review of the game. I have not played this particular Sonic game. I'll give it a try sometime.

This game seems to remind me a lot about Tetris. =3
I first got a hold of this game on the Sonic Mega Collection, and I was hooked on it for the longest time, mainly because it was so frickin hard for me. Dr. Robotnik himself is a cheap bastardio, and it took me months to beat this guy. When I finally went through all that frustration and beat him, I literally cried tears of joy. And that's what I like in a game =3
This is definitely one of the best games on the Sega Genesis, and I would highly recommend this for any gamer out there. My personal score would be an 8.5 out of 10.

Oh man I used to play this on my Sega Genesis when I was like seven or nine. This game is sooooo underrated, I honestly prefer this over Dr. Mario any day. The only game that ties with this for me is Columns (another awesome puzzle game) ah old school puzzle games are the best!

I played this before, its just another puzzle game with a bean mix to it. Its somewhat fun, but its kind of bland to me.

I often heard of this game, but never played it until it got re-released on PS3. I didn't finished it yet but I have to agree with the review and with lone-wolf_0991 that it's quite at the same level as games like Tetris or Columns.  Even though it's a bit different to all those other puzzle-games which makes it some kind of special.

To get to the point: good review. The game it's about is well chosen
