I don't know if you could call it an RTS? Since I don't play many of them, and I also don't even know if it's publicly available yet.

You may want to try DotA 2. I have it on Steam, and it's actually a pretty damn good game if not difficult. It's more complex than the average game, but once you get the hang of it, it's a ball to play.

Top 5 RTS I can recommend are Strarcraft considered the pinnacle of rts, Spellforce 2 a mix of rpg and and rts, Age of Empires, Shogun total war, Warhammer these I think are some of the best RTS games on the market and all can be picked up fairly cheaply as well.
