I've trying to gain more muscle weight and decided to use protein.  I'm using Whey Protein Elite Series Plus Six Stars.  I haven't been seeing the results I want fast enough yet so what do you recommend?

That depends on how much protein you intake daily. That stuff you're using only has 26 grams of protein per scoop - I'd recommend the stuff I use, Isopure, since it has 50 grams per scoop, so it will save you some money:
http://www.theisopurecompany.com/en/powders

You should be taking at least around 50 to 100 grams of protein daily from the powder supplement along with eating stuff high in protein. Basically you want to try and intake roughly a half gram of protein to each pound that you weigh. Just as a precautionary though, with a high protein diet you'll want to make sure that you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day to prevent potential kidney problems and dehydration. The water's going to aid the kidneys in the processing of the protein.

So with the powder, drink it about 5-10 minutes after workout, but powder is really just a supplement for food protein though.

mr.pace : I recommend patience.  You have to increase your total net calories by 3,500 per pound.

If you want to gain 5 lbs of muscle, that's 17,500 calories of protein.  That's 4,375 grams of protein AFTER you burn your BMR.

Keep track of your total grams of protein.  Aim at 150 a day and keep exercising.  If you want to gain weight, avoid cardio.  Warm up a few minutes but don't run any miles or swim or play endurance sports like basketball, soccer, football, or hockey.

That's about all you can do.  It's not the product, it's the total number of grams of protein.  No one manufactures protein better than anyone else.  It's all the same.

Good luck!

That's true. And don't bother taking more than the recommended amount for servings. Your body, barely depending on your size, will only process a certain amount and get of the rest. You'll be wasting your money. Protein isn't cheap either. The containers I get are $26 on wholesale. Others can be way more expensive. If you use it properly anything will work. Here's the site I get my stuff from.

http://www.dpsnutrition.net/?fromdotcom=1&rc=dotcom

I always used products from AST since they're fairly cheap and have given me lots of results over the years during bodybuilding.

Also, you exercise regimen is a big factor. If you're looking for fast gains do heavier weights. My routine involves doing weights that I can only do 5 reps of for 5 sets. 25 total reps. And no more than 30 seconds in between sets. It's a tough routine, but I've seen good gains whenever I do them correctly. Another routine I used to do is to do weights that you can only lift for 4-6 reps 3 times. It's a good way to start getting into hardcore workouts.

Remember, your muscles will only get used to and grow for the weight that you're lifting. You lift a light weight you'll only gain enough mass strength just for that light weight. Same goes for heavy weights.

As Cyro Xero said, simply taking more protein won't do anything for you. In fact, taking too much can, as with anything, hurt you now and in the long run! If you take too much, your body will stop making it's own supply of protein, instead relying on the protein you get from your supplements, and if you stop your regimen this can have effects that last years.

What sort of routine are you doing to bulk up? You probably already know this but more reps of lower weight will increase your stamina, and fewer reps with more weight will increase the actual size of your muscles.

Lazlo Falconi : Your description of your body stopping production of proteins is incorrect. Your body doesn't make those specific proteins on it's own. Of the 22 amino acids, it makes 13 of them. Protein supplements generally aren't compiled of those 13 amino acids, but the 9 essential (named that because they are needed in your diet because your body doesn't make them) that it doesn't make. So taking excess protein supplements won't stop production of those 13 made naturally in your body. Yes, it can still harm you, but not that the kind that would make you go into protein withdraw. The problem you will run into is your kidneys because all that excess protein that is filtered out through urine. The more the kidneys have to filter through, the harder they have to work.

Ahh, you're right. I'm thinking about... Actually, I don't remember what nutrient I'm thinking about, but clearly it isn't protein.
