I picked up a few books this week because I felt like I really needed something to read. I picked up books 1 and 2 from the Wheel of Time series and book 1 of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. Any of you read these?
I started the A Wheel of Time books first and it's interesting so far. Be warned though A Song of Ice and Fire is heavier than something like LOTR, as in darker.

Song of Fire and Ice is my favorite series by far. Wheel of time was alright, by the time you get the the 11nth book the twlelth might be out by then. That is the last book. Do you use any reading techniques, or just read?
What i mean by that is, you can apparnntly read faster if you put a bit of paper accross teh page, so you can only see the line you are reading an up (or was it down  ), and the brain can concentrate better and just read what it has to.

To answer Bigbob reading is like most everything else, the more you do it the better you get. Of course the ascent into goodness is a steep at first but levels off quickly. Basically if someone reads well/fast they just do it a lot.

Yeah, that's the best way to improve is simply to read more. Also making sure the text size is easy for you to read will help. The text in the books I got is a bit small for me, so it's taking me a bit longer than usual.
I have read the entire Chronicles of Narnia (All 7 books) in a week. The print was a good size and since they are aimed at younger people than me it was easy reading.

Ohh.. That would be why I hated reading in highschool, becuase I needed glasses (would help more for long distances, not short.. but still) and I didnt get them.
I was reading the star wars series, I think they were after ep 6. Or might have been between 3 and 4... I dont remember.
