Ah, Fester's Quest, the greatest game ever to use the coveted Addams Family license. This over-head action-adventure was made by Sunsoft, known world-wide for their great soundtracks in such classic games as Blaster-Master and Batman on the NES. The soundtrack in this game is not my favorite from Sunsoft but it's still great.
Fester's Quest finds Uncle Fester and his trusty gun as the lone force opposing an alien invasion. Visiting scattered Addams Family Mansions will allow Fester to gain new items and weapons from members of the cast including Morticia, the Thing, Wednesday, etc. At the end of each level, the player is forced to endure a somewhat pointless first-person-perspective maze segment (pointless because the only challenge is finding the right exit, choosing the wrong exit takes you back outside and you lose a key) leading to a boss. The game is quite challenging, and fortunately the only limitation on the rate of fire of any of Fester's gun weapons is the speed of the human finger. Thus, there is no point in attempting to play this game without turbo-powered blasting--it will only leave you wondering how long you might have survived with the added advantage of turbo-fire.
Fans of Sunsoft action/adventure games and their great soundtracks should check this one out, as should fans of the Addams Family and other similar, classic NES adventures like the legend of Zelda.
