I don't know how many anime fans are out there, but one new game that I recently picked up was One Piece Gigant Battle 2 for the DS. It's a really awesome game from the anime/manga called One Piece.

For those who don't know:
ONE PIECE (ワンピースWan Pīsu?) is a pirate adventure manga written and drawn by Eiichiro Oda, created in August 1997. The manga is known to employ colorful and creative motifs that are taken from classic mythology, politics and musical aspects. It is also mixed with pirate lore and shonen formula.

The series begins with the execution of Gold Roger, a man known as the King of the Pirates (海賊王Kaizokuō?). Just before his death, Roger announces that his treasure, the One Piece (ひとつなぎの大秘宝 (ワンピース)Wan Pīsu?), will be up for the taking, causing the Great Pirate Era (大海賊時代Dai Kaizoku Jidai?) to begin. As a result, countless pirates set out to the Grand Line to look for the treasure.

Twenty years have passed since Roger's execution, and Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate inspired by the pirate known as "Red-Haired" Shanks, has since set off on a journey from the East Blue to succeed Roger and find the treasure. He organizes and leads a nine-member crew named the Straw Hat Pirates. Each crew member Luffy encounters eventually become his close friends, including the swordsmanRoronoa Zoro, the navigator and thief Nami, the liar and cowardly sharpshooter Usopp, the womanizing chef Sanji, the doctor and anthropomorphized reindeer Tony Tony Chopper, the archaeologist and former enemy Nico Robin, the cybernetic shipwright Franky, and the musician skeleton Brook.

The crew crosses paths with diverse villains, such as Buggy the Clown, many of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the Marines, who place bounties on Luffy's, Zoro's, and eventually the rest of the crew's heads, and Arlong, a fishman and member of the former Sun Pirates. They encounter Baroque Works, the crime syndicate responsible for a civil war in the desert kingdom of Alabasta, along with fellow pirateBlackbeard, whose dream is also to become the King of the Pirates. The crew also confronts Enel, the ruler of the floating island Skypiea. Later, the crew meets the Marine admiral Aokiji, who reveals that Robin was involved in searching for Poneglyphs, stones with markings left by an ancient civilization whom Roger himself was also able to read. The crew also encounters Cipher Pol No. 9, the intelligence agency responsible for the destruction of Robin's homeland, who causes the pirates to declare war on the World Government. After an epic battle at Enies Lobby, the crew defeats CP9 - saving Robin and avenging the lives lost in the destruction - and each member receives bounties on their heads.

Some time later, the crew prepares to sail off to the New World, the second half of the Grand Line. The crew eventually gets separated during a battle at the Sabaody Archipelago. At the same time, the Marines sentence Luffy's older brother and Roger's son Portgas D. Ace to be executed, and hold a war against a group of pirates led by Whitebeard. Luffy eventually rescues Ace, but both Whitebeard and Ace are killed in the ensuing chaos. Later, Luffy and the crew undergo rigorous training regimens, some under the tutelage of prominent figures. Two years later, the crew regroups and journeys to Fishman Island to enter the New World. At the same time, a group of evil fishman pirates appear, and holds a coup d'état to decide the fate of the island, but are eventually defeated by the Straw Hats alongside Jimbei.


It's a really awesome manga that I love a lot. The game is really awesome too.

One Piece: Gigant Battle! 2 New World (ワンピース ギガントバトル! 2 新世界Wanpīsu: Giganto Batoru! 2 Shinsekai?) is a Nintendo DS game published by Bandai and developed by Ganbarion. It is the sequel to One Piece: Gigant Battle. It will focus in the Post-War arc and Fishman Island arc, but it contain contents from previous arcs as well.  One Piece: Gigant Battle 2 New World has a whole lot of playable characters, which the people at  Namco Bandai have been revealing lately. Last month, we saw: Shiki, Enel, Vivi, Wapol, Caribou and Rob Lucci. The game’s third promo video shows a rundown of features and some of the characters: Characters in Gigant Battle 2 can be leveled up and outfitted with new skills. The game’s single player mode is World Conquest, which has you moving on a 3D map. Ultimately, you face a boss, and defeating him puts his territory in your control. If you have the original Gigant Battle, you’ll be able to transfer some of your data over to Gigant Battle 2.

It's got over 100 support characters total, over 40 of them are playable. There are many kinds of skills, and powers. The first one was good, this one is awesome!

One Piece: Gigant Battle 2 – New World follows the Straw Hat pirates as Luffy takes control of land in the game’s adventure mode. What do you do after you rule the world? Head to the Thousand Arena.

This battle royal mode is a feature players unlock. After you step in the Thousand Arena, Portgas Ace or whoever you pick needs to take down 100 other challengers. Not one by one, though. One Piece: Gigant Battle 2, much like Ganbarion’s earlier fighting game Jump Ultimate Stars, has four player battles.

Players can prepare for the Thousand Arena by customizing their characters. In conquest mode, the main adventure mode, characters gain experience points and when you level up you get more skill points. These let you equip skills like a double jump and attacks for each character.


I would highly suggest trying it out!

Here is a sweet video on the mind blowing DS game One Piece: Gigant Battle 2 Shin Sekai! You are going to love its crazy wackyness, random attacks, and sweet characters, and gameplay. All I can say is, be amazed. Once again, you are going to love it. You will absolutely love this game. I suggest watching the anime and reading the manga as well.
