Are you using a laptop, or are you using a desktop. Also, are you talking about games in general, or the games here? Well, if you have a desktop, make sure the tower is in a well ventilated area. Don't point the fan inches from the wall or something. For a laptop, I would suggest buying one of the fans you set under your laptop and plug into your USB. Those things work wonders.

rcarter2 : I am using desktop and the games on here. The tower is in well area and about 3 inches away from wall. Yet, it still overheated and shut down every time...

Is it in a shelf of some kind where the sides are a little confined. Even if it is away from the wall, if it is still in a remotely confined area, then the tower will still heat up, just not as fast. If it is in a cabinet area of a computer desk that was 'made' to put your tower in, try keeping it out of there and more in the open. Also, how old is your tower. If it is fairly old, then the overheating is just an inevitable problem. With my old laptop, I bought a fan to point at it to keep it from overheating. Haha. It was annoying at times though.

rcarter2 : Well it is in the computer desk, not the one that made for tower, and it is about 3 to 4 years old.

Then my only suggestions are this. Keep it more in the open, try to keep the room that it is in relatively cool, keep it away from any heat sources like vents. If none of that works, buy a fan to point at it. Although, it is possible it is dusty on the inside. Try opening it up, cleaning all that dust out, and by a plastic tower cover to put over the tower when you are not using it to keep the dust out. You might be surprised how much you can lengthen your tower's life be keeping the dust out with a simple cover.

Yeah, a lot of dust in your tower is not good. To clean it, you have to unscrew the cover off, and just remove the dust (very delicately). Do not use caned air. That can mess with your tower in bad ways. Use a duster that attracts dust, and be VERY CAREFUL.

You could upgrade some bits, does it have a graphics card?its possible its shuting down because its working so hard to run the games its over heating.
Or your fan could be crap.
Or both.
Or a whole host of other things which i wont mention because if that was the case youd be as well buying a new one.
As rcarter said,dust=bad.
And if the room is hot your fan wont do much either.
