I wrote these early Sunday morning while nearly falling asleep. That tends to be the time that my mind expresses itself the most clearly. Hope you get some pleasure out of these midnight oil burners~


Rough Draft
Enter the space of what is had been
Where all our abstractions are imagined
Where all our dreams begin
Once they leave they take shape and form
Sometimes they squirm but seldom are they born


Body Language
I sit solemnly as the world around me is in motion
The mouth, she makes not a tremble nor a quiver
The nose, he is crowded with no opinion
The eyes, they stare at no one in particular
These hands, they are all that is left of me to care

Now I lay my head down to rest,
that surly
my dreams slowly pass,
knowing that
in the middle of the night,
that you,
that day just might,
take me
home.
Now I wake,
the mornings dawn,
sleeplessly
the night has gone,
I make sure
the first thing I do,
is just
kneel down and thank you.
Now the day
starts out good,
in my little
neighborhood,
I pull out
the Holy Book,
then the
ground starts to shook.
I sway forth
and back,
as the day
quickly turns black,
the Bible I
hold on to,
as my
stomach starts to stew.
Then it all
stops,
it just
halts,
I kneel
down,
and without
a frown,
I pray.
"God
Thank You So Much,
for I'm here
still in your clutch,
I'm a seven
soul,
and I do not
dare let go.
It is a test
for me,
as now you
can see,
I will not
go,
you have my
Eternal Soul.
I pray that
friends and family are fine,
and in this
moment of time,
they did the
same thing I do,
and they
have not forgotten you.
Now I muss
go,
and check
the seeds I sued,
to make sure
they are fine,
in this
moment of time,
Amen"
Now the
night has come,
the day has
gone,
and everyone
lives,
even the
babies and their bibs.
Now I lay my
head down to rest,
that surly
my dreams will solely pass,
knowing that
you saved my life,
another day
gone, and goodnight

They're impressive, NotJon. [Rough Draft makes me think about all those rough drafts I have made but never completed for college in the past year or so. Very frustrating but true. I can see myself in Body Language as well. Reminds me of the times I am alone and thinking to myself.

AuraBlaze : Thank you! That's what I was going for. When I was thinking about "Rough Draft," I was trying to make it about another kind of rough draft - thoughts. We all think up many scenarios in our heads. Sometimes they're shot down rather quickly, others are more realized but succumb to the same fate, but there are a few thoughts that enter the real world and yet even those are often not successful. However, we're hopeful that if we keep trying that we'll get it right. It's trial-and-error, the human way of doing things. "Body Language" was more straight-forward. That one is a little more personal. That's just how I feel in most of my classes. Once again, thanks for the kind words and I'm glad that they touched a little part of you.

Jcs1 : Thank you very much. I actually very rarely write poetry. Counting these, I've probably written five in the last year. I'll keep writing, maybe not poetry, but I always come back to it. Thank you again!

There's really no reason to the rhyme for me, but I just like what you put out. It's consistent.
