Yes, I've heard it used this way as well. Unfortunately my mind is not suggestible enough. But hypnotism is more or less you using your imagination and by this I mean your brain tricks itself into doing whatever it is being told to do, obviously there are limitations as you wouldn't go kill someone while hypnotized (unless you normally would anyways).
