No homework is nice, but I usually prefer it if the person teaching me knows whats going on. Substitutes can seem lost at times. I prefer Teachers.

I prefer the actual teachers. The subs seem to be more strict and not really know what they are doing.

The classroom is more relaxed with the actual teacher.

I like substitutes better they let do pretty much anything unless you have a strict teacher. But sometimes teachers can be nice and let you do fun stuff.

Substitutes are alright. I probably favor them more than the regular teachers. Some of them are pretty cool. I like them. Even though there are quite a few people that are douches, I prefer a sub.

It all depends on the teacher. Some of the teachers that I don't like can be a pain to deal with so I don't mind having a sub for them once in a while. However, the subs can be completely random and sometimes the subs are worse than the teachers.

We have some subs at my school who are totally awesome and will let the students do whatever they want in class with no consequences.

But there's one guy who's just an ass to everyone. He's obnoxious and he thinks he's a real teacher or something. He's just a sub, jeez.

mike345 : I prefer substitutes because it's a change from the every day routine, and it gives me something new to look forward to
However, I also enjoy my regular teachers because they put up with me being hilarious in class. And for that, I respect them .

Since my teacher this year is awesome, I prefer a teacher other than a substitute teacher. My teacher is extremely hilarious and awesome. He enjoys creating jokes. He calls me motor mouth and my other friends dingbats. He's tall and we call him Mr.Vecchiarello. I know how to spell his last name.

Substitutes were always fun for me because they would always put on a movie for us to watch , let us do what ever we wanted ( even sleep ) or teach for 10 - 15 minute's within a 45 min than do nothing else and leave the class room. Most of all substitutes never really gave homework . This was in middle school and even high school for me . Woot !

that entirely depends on the teacher or the sub, during my senior year i had a math teacher that i enjoyed his name was mister Almgren his wife always subbed for him and she would always bring along her two bratty kids who would snitch on us for talking, which was apparently forbidden in the class when she was there.

on the other hand i once had a teacher by the name of Johnson who was an absolute nightmare but one day she became sick and we had to have a substitute, it turned out that our teacher had to be out for the rest of the year and the sub was not only nicer but a better teacher.

Substitutes give you way too much work, and teachers expect too much from you. But, I have graduated, and I must say I preferred subs a lot more than the teachers.

I prefer teachers over substitutes. Nobody at my school takes substitutes seriously, and it gets WAY too out of control.

I prefer teachers.  Some substitutes in my school are extremely lenient to the point of letting the children take out their phones and iPods and whatnot.  Then I feel left out because I don't normally take my phone to school unless I have an important personal reason or something and I don't have an iPod or the like.  Plus, for some reason the 11 and 12-year-olds are running around my school with iPhones with some very inappropriate material on there.  I was going to give an example, but thought better of it.  Sorry for the tangent, but this is basically why I dislike too-lenient substitutes.  Other substitutes do nothing but scream at the students to be quiet when we're whispering.  I understand this to some degree because maybe the substitute wants perfect silence from us, but still, the yelling can get annoying.  Also the substitutes treat us like we're in first grade.  They pick a student to write the names of the kids who are talking on the board and then those kids are supposed to be punished, but they never do.  This was done in my elementary school.  The last reason why I prefer teachers over substitutes is because the vast majority of the substitutes don't know what to teach us.  The teacher is supposed to leave behind a note for the substitute to tell them what to do, but some substitutes disregard the note or, worse, misread them.  For example, I had a substitute a few times in French.  The sub's name was Mr. Sipes.  For one thing, he did not know any French whatsoever.  He made us read what was written on the board, which was in French.  Now, what was written on the board was basically what we were going to learn during the unit.  Then, after a few people read from the board, he told someone else to translate it.  Sometimes, what you had to translate was something we hadn't learned yet, so how were we supposed to translate it?  So in conclusion, I cherish my teachers because I would rather have my least favorite teacher, my Language Arts teacher, than a substitute.

Wow this is an old thread, I prefer substitutes because they are way less tense and actually know how to have fun. The last one I had before school ended had hearing aids and would turn them off when he was reading. My friends took advantage of that and walked straight out of class, He didn't even notice.

At the same time, from what I remember, as long as the sub isn't a complete butt and you behave, they tend to get nicer than the teachers.

I think it depends on your teachers. Some are awesome, some are boring, some are mean, etc. But when it comes to substitute teachers, it's way better because you get to do nothing. But, from what I said about how some teachers are, if your teacher is AWESOME, and he/she is not there, it gets sad. But, if your teacher is boring or mean, and you get a substitute, it's party time!!

As a teacher myself, I do not.  I think that most teachers nowadays are simply baby sitters, and that bothers me.  I remember back when I attended high school and subs actually -taught-.  Now, although a degree is required, it's not necessary.  Not only do the subs not teach, but they also don't even do things like take roll accurately or make the students behave.  :/  Very irritating.
