They were talking about it @ anime boston, so I decided to watch a little of it.

FIRST EPISODE SYNOPSIS:

A boy (Lelouch) is driving home from 'gambling,' (I didn't understand it that much) and a terrorist's truck incidentally swerves off the road and into an unopened building because of his friend's slow driving, and the terrorist's urge to flee from the police.

Lelouch runs after the crashed truck, not knowing about the terrorist situation, and falls inside of it, since the terrorists are still in fleeing, while trying to get the people in the truck out of it.

Lelouch gets trapped into the terrorist situation, and learns that the terrorists aren't joking around. One of the terrorists gets into a mech suit, and tries to blow up the mech suits and helicopters following the truck (Which Lelouch now notices).

At this time, Lelouch figures out that he's in a terrorist situation. The truck goes into an underground bridge (either to escape the police, or to get to the terrorist base)

The truck gets stuck in a ditch in the tunnel, and one of the army men who were searching in the tunnels for the terrorists hears this. The truck driver opens the doors. The soldier looks to see the truck doors opening to reveal... a bomb and Lelouch.

The army guy goes to attack Lelouch (well, he IS on a terrorist truck), and Lelouch finds out that the bomb is actually 'poisonous gas' from the soldier. Lelouch kicks the army guy off of him and yells at him about how the 'empire' is causing all the deaths, since they made the poison.(Digging your grave already?)

The soldier notices who the supposed terrorist is, and takes off his mask...
Well what do you know! It's Lelouch's long lost friend, Suzaku! But before they can begin sharing their life stories, the 'poisonous gas bomb' goes off.

Suzaku tries to save Lelouch's life, by shoving his gas mask in Lelouch's face, but it turns out that it's not poisonous gas, but a girl.

A little while later, an entire group of soldiers comes into the tunnel, and thinks that Lelouch is still a terrorist. The commander gives Suzaku an order to kill the terrorist, and he tries to explain, but the commander yells at him. He refuses the order, and gets shot.

The commander says that Lelouch looks like he is a student, and this was all a misunderstanding on his part. Then he gives an order to the men to capture the girl and kill Lelouch.

The truck driver commits suicide due to the wound he recieved in the crash a while ago by setting the truck on fire, then blowing it up.

(This scene was cut due to mass murder)

Lelouch takes the girl, and they try to run from the group of soldiers while they are distracted by the fire. the girl trips, and Lelouch has a small mental breakdown.

Another group of soldiers found a supposed 'terrorist base,' and are killing all the people in here. (warning: mass murder) While they are about to leave, Lelouch's phone goes off. (Damn Verison Guy!)

They get caught, and the guy goes to shoot him.
The girl jumps in the way... (BOOM! HEADSHOT!)

Lelouch is thinking about how he shouldn't die helpless (then he thinks of his sister, who is in a wheelchair and blind.)

The girl (who just died) makes a contract with Lelouch, (this part was kinda confusing) and he is given the ability to control minds.

He commands all of the soldiers to kill themselves.
They do this.

He realizes what happened, and knows that everything from that day on is now a lie.

The episode ends with him saying "I have gained this power... so..." And he gives an evil grin.

THANK YOU for putting this summary here. I was a little interested and then after I saw this I was like, "WHOA! EXPLOSION AWESOMENESS!"

I have watched the whole first season and it's definitely one of the best animes I have ever seen. I'm very excited about the second season which will start tomorrow!! </fanboymode>

So yeah I recommend this anime to anyone who likes robots/main person villain animes.

You know what's also a good Anime? Ex Machina

This anime is definately pure awesomeness with robots, war, violence (yay violence!) and a bit of chuck norris.

The chuck norris makes it the most awesome.

yeah, with any Chuck Norris appearances= Through the roof awesomeness.

Technically, he was the main character of the show, and he didn't use mind control... he just kicked anyone who got in his way.

The show was too violent, so they had to change a lot of it, and change the main character as well... but you can still see him in there from time to time.

He then roundhouse kicked the director for taking out his part.

So, when's Code Geass coming to America? Any specific release date?

I thought it was sometime around Q2 of this year, but I'm not so sure.

It's in my Anime Boston booklet, so It might be in progress right now.

(Plus they'll need to find some place to air it on.)

Let's hope they don't get rid of a good show for this one. If death note gets canceled I'm gonna cry.

They'll probably get rid of Blood+
It just ended, anyways.

I miss cable, I want to watch the premiere of this show when it comes over here in the US

I'll tape it for you or buy the DVD.

I'm definately getting the first english episode on tape.

(By the way, whatever happened to you getting cable in ferburary?)

Cable's too expensive and that's why I miss out on a lot of anime.

Code Geass to Premiere on Adult Swim April 26!

Prior to the premiere, and every subsequent week new episodes will be made available at adultswim.com on Friday nights prior to the Saturday broadcast.

One of the most highly anticipated anime series of ‘08, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion features animation studio Sunrise and a story by Goro Taniguchi (s-CRY-ed, Planetes) and Ichiro Okouchi (Eureka SeveN, Planetes) and character designs by the legendary manga creators CLAMP. The story is a military drama with intricate plot lines and robotic action about the character Lelouch and his journey to overthrow a totalitarian regime that has invaded Japan.

“This begins the invasion” said Bandai Entertainment Director of Marketing Robert Napton. “Code Geass is one of the most highly anticipated series of 2008 and we’re excited to be part of the adult swim block on April 26th to kick things off.”

Does Adult Swim broadcast any subbed animes?

No, their ratings would drop quickly and every subbed anime would be canceled.

Then I would probably recommend you to download it instead. But that's just my hate for dubs.
