Okay, here's my riddle: there were two twins, born one right after the other. The younger twin celebrated his birthday on February 28th, and the older twin celebrated his birthday on March 1st. Both twins celebrated their birthdays on the correct date. How?

Would it bother you if I answered this one given I had the last one? I'll wait for some other guesses on this one before I answer, I just wanted to know if people aren't getting it right, is it okay for me to? (I know the answer )

Well, given that nobody has made a guess, I will go ahead and give the answer. It is possible because February is the month that only has 28 days. So that means that when the mother gave birth, it was late at night on February 28th. So the first baby could have officially been born at like 11:50pm, and the other came out at 12:01am, making them have different 'birthdays'.

rcarter2 : Wrong. You fell for the feint. The dates themselves don't matter much, just that they're consecutive. It could be December 28th and 29th, just as easily. You came a little close in the second half, but you missed the vital point. I think you misread the riddle, go back and read it more carefully. It's tricky.

Oh. I see. Well, I would assume that maybe they were born on leap year (February 29th), so the younger twin celebrated on the 28th and the other celebrated on March 1st? 

rcarter2 : No. The exact date doesn't matter. And you didn't answer the question this time at all.

(Hint) Why is the twin that was born second celebrating his birthday before the twin that was born first? Accurately?

Oh, I did not read the riddle correctly. I missed the part that the YOUNGER brother was celebrating his birthday first. Okay, I think it is because they were traveling while the mother was in labor. The first baby was born on one time zone that was before 1am. The other twin was born after they passed the time zone line which sets the clock back one hour (technically), and that time made him born before midnight, making it the day before the first twin.

rcarter2 : Yep, that's it. Took you long enough. I had a hunch that you missed that the first time, but I held off on that hint for a little while wait and see to be sure.

Sorry I haven't posted here. I forgot I got the last one. Well, my last one seemed to be too complicated so I will just do a simple one. I'm sure a lot of you have heard this one before, but I won't post my more challenging ones here unless I feel it won't make the thread go dead again.

Two spies want to get in an enemy's military base.In order to get in they have to give the correct countersign to the guard at the gate after he gives them the sign. So they wait hidden nearby the gate so that they will overhear the countersign from another soldier.

One soldier comes and the guard gives the sign: "6".The soldier answers "3".The guard lets him pass. Another soldier comes.The guard says "12" and the soldier gives the answer "6".The guard lets him pass. So, the first spy goes at the gate and the guard asks says "10".The spy, sure that he knew the answer as he was, says "5". Immediately, the guard shoots him dead.

Then the other spy, who saw that the other spy was killed when he gave the countersign, had now understood what the right answer would be, whatever the guard's sign was.So, he walks to the gate and the guard says "8".The spy gives the correct answer and the guard lets him in. What was the answer that the spy gave?

Come on. Doesn't anyone have any guesses at all? I don't want to give hints before at least a couple of tries. It really isn't a difficult riddle.

rcarter2 : Fine, if you want a guess that badly then I'll say nine. There's not a lot of possible solutions, but there's more than one and people don't want to be wrong.

My hint is that sequence has nothing to do with the riddle. Look at the numbers in the riddle and see if you spot it.

It sucks though that the hint gave the answer away. But I see how it could've been necessary. As I said, we're not all too clever
